Model: RE715X   Archer AXE75
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Purchased the range extender on May 28, 2026.    Purchased the router on March 13, 2026.  I am unable to get the range extender set up.   It is not connecting to the router.

I have followed both the Tether method and the WPS method instructions.

The LED indicators are as as follows:

Power:   Solid Blue

Wifi / WPs.   Flashing blue after pushing WPS button, but eventually goes back to unlit.

2.4.  Unlit.

5.0.   Unlit.

Other Notes:

I also tried:

1.  Turned off Access Control on the router.

2.  Disabled Cellular Data / Mobile Data on phone.   (Suggested by Tether app).

3.  Disabled Nearby Device Scanner on phone.   (Suggested by Tether app).

I have the extender plugged in literally right next to the router.

Hello @OlderThanDirt ,

Thanks for contacting our community.

Please try these steps in order and check if the 2.4G/5G LEDs light up after each attempt.

1. Validate your router's Wi-Fi password
On your phone, forget the router's Wi-Fi network, then reconnect to it and manually re-enter the password. This confirms the password is correct. (Guide: How to remove existing wireless network profile on Android&iPhone)

2. Upgrade the extender's firmware
Outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues. Update the RE715X to the latest firmware version. (Guide: How to Update Your TP-Link Extender Firmware: Three Methods)

3. Reset and reconfigure the extender
Use a pin to press the reset button for 1 second until all LEDs flash, then open the Tether app, tap the "+" button to add the device, and follow the on-screen setup instructions.

4. Optimize your router's wireless channels
Set your router's 2.4GHz channel to 1, 6, or 11, and the 5GHz channel to 36, 40, 44, or 48 to reduce interference. (Guide: How to change wireless settings on TP-Link Wireless Router)

If the extende still doesn't workk after going through all the steps above, please contact Local Support for further assistance.
