Tuesday
Model: Deco BE95
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.1

Added a third BE95 to my mesh and suddenly lots of devices (mainly S505D smart switches on IOT network) could no longer reach the cloud/Internet after getting local IP address (I believe DNS resolution was failing). But I also had non IOT devices failing on main WiFi as well.

I finally figured out this was occurring with devices connecting to the new unit added to the mesh. I later discovered it was because I had plugged two computers into the 10gbps Ethernet ports on the back. Unplugging from the shared 10gbps/sfp port fixed the issue and devices started reaching the Internet.

Please document this better or have the unit detect this invalid setup and flash red. But don't silently show green and connect devices which fail to reach the Internet. I spent days changing settings and rebooting and was literally about to return the unit before figuring this out. Now it works beautifully. It is great hardware -- don't ruin the user experience with things like this.

I can certainly understand your frustration after hearing your experience.

Yes, the 10 Gbps Ethernet / SFP Combo Ports are designed for a "one or the other, but not at the same time" connection setup. If one of the Combo Ports is already in use, its counterpart cannot be used simultaneously. The goal of the Combo Port feature is to provide flexibility in homes where one medium (Fiber/SFP or Ethernet) is preferred or more convenient than the other for WAN connectivity.

Appreciate the feedback regarding documentation ― I'll pass it along to the Deco team.
