Okay if this has been asked already I do apologize. Just got the M5 today and got them setup up. Modem (w) M5-(w)-Switch-(wl)--M5--(wl)--M5. (wl)= wireless and (w)= wired. Can I do an open VPN? Also trying to setup my 4 POE cameras on the m5 but dont see anyplace where username and password would be. Old wireless router I was able to make my own user and password.

If the M5 cannot do open VPN could i do this instead. Modem- (wired)- Wireless Router- (wired)- M5- (wired)- Switch - (wireless)- M5- (wireless)- M5

It only supports VPN passthrough.

We can connect them as you described but it should be wired between switch and M5.

Okay,
Would i be better off switching it over to AP mode so I would connect the switch directly to the main router?

If you want to connect the switch directly to the main router, you have to switch it to AP mode.

@Bowen98

I find this "VPN passthrough" the most annoying answer.

Essentially VPN passthrough is nothing. It just means that it will try not to mangle VPN traffic if you happen to be connecting VPN software to a service or have OTHER equipment that supports VPN server.

It's a bit like needing breaks on your car and being told, well, your car won't explode if you get a trailer that has breaks.

totally useless
