Deco configuration - Will this work ?

Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.8.6

I am using a cable modem, then plugged into the main Deco M5, then an 8 port switch (with local devices connected) and then a 50 foot run of cat 5 (out of one port of the switch) to the other end of the house with another 8 port switch and then the second Deco M5 plugged into that switch plus other local devices plugged into that switch.

If I only use the one switch at the remote Deco M5 everything works great, but if I introduce the switch after the main Deco M5 I lose everything at the remote switch.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance!!!

@KenWVT

So a few possiblities here:

1.  Your switch or switches are not Auto-MDI/MDIX complaint.  If that is case you may need to connect the swtiches together using a Crossover cable or if they have an uplink port connect the switches using tthat.

2.  The switches connected to each other are creating a broadcase storm.

A simple solution that could solve both issues is to have it setup like this:

Modem - Base Deco -Swtich -50 ft run-  Remote Deco -Switch.

Best Regards
