TP-Link Archer AC2300 speed test oddities
I purchased the AC2300 at least I think it is this model versus the C2300, not quite sure how to tell them apart.
Anyways, I have Spectrum as my ISP and when I run the speed test application directly from the mgmt console of the TP-Link my download and upload is right where I would expect it. Roughly 200 Mbps down and 12 Mbps up.
However when I run speed tests from my devices.......laptop and cell phones I am getting a wide range or download and upload speed, generally in the 20-16 Mbps down and 4-8 Mbps up.
Any ideas as to why this large or a descrepancy? I believe most of my devices are utilizing the 5GHz band.

If you connect a computer with a Ethernet cable to the router what speeds do you get?
Do you have smart connect enabled? If not, did you make the 2.4GHz and 5Ghz the same name?

@LakesideZ If I connect via ethernet cable I get the same speeds as from the mgmt console on the TP-Link. Yes I do have smart connect enabled, is that a good feature to use? And yes both bands have the same name, I actually think when I enabled smart connect it made them the same automatically.

Same issue here with my C2300. The speed test inside the C2300 control panel shows 186 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up, more or less what my ISP should give me, so my connection to the ISP seems to work fine. However, any device connected (ethernet wired) does not get higher than 15~20 Mbps down and up. So 20 Mbps UP is normal, but only getting 20 Mbps down when I should get 100-200 is not nice. The desktops/laptops ethernet lines did not change compared to my old router, where I did get much higher speeds. I have a support ticket open with TP.... they asked me for screen shots of my settings... awaiting their reply now. Will come back here if they provide me the solution.

@Videast same issue here except I have spectrum gig (940 down 35 up). With TWO tplink models the routers are giving me much slower speeds (c4000 and ax6000). I have tried beta firmwares etc to no success... I bought the cheapest ax1500 tplink model and it is giving me MUCH faster speeds (940 down and 7-800 on wireless)
I am assuming the slowdown is from the forces QOS module or homecare! the ax1500 has neither thus I have fulll speed.... It's just sad that I could not use a "higher end" router and the cheapest one does the job.
SMH tplink what's your problem...
The two tplink higher end models are the only ones with slow speeds.. (I would get 300 down max and 35 up on both high end tplink models on wireless and 500 down on wired!! My advice would be just return and try something else.

@Slendobeja Thanks for your suggestion. Parental control was not activated, but I tried disabling the "Protection" options in Security, as well as Access Control. QoS cannot be disabled, but its set to "standard" on Application Priority, and the computer which I'm using for speed testing is set to "Priority" on the Device Priority page.
After those changes, I did a reboot on the router before testing (not sure if needed, but cannot harm). Unfortunately, still the same issue... <20 Mbps speeds... whilst the onboard speed test remains at 185 Mbps UP and around 20 DOWN.
I have a support ticket open with TP, and send them the screenshots - on the router config they were asking - for this weekend. Let's see what they come back with.

to optimize the wireless connections, they came with following recommended settings:
We would recommend to adjust the following:
2,4Ghz:
Set the channelwidth to 40Mhz
Set a fixed channel, you can find the correct channel by use of freeware applications such as WiFi Analyzer (Android) and inSSIDER (Android/Windows)
Set the security version to WPA2-PSK
Set the encryption to AES
5Ghz:
Set the channelwidth to 40Mhz
Set a fixed channel: 48
Set the security version to WPA2-PSK
Set the encryption to AES
I have not found the time to check my current settings versus these, and test the above settings.
For the wired connection, they suggested to connect my PC directly into the ISP modem, and test the speed then. I got almost full speed. Strangely enough, when connecting back the AC2300, my down/up speeds on a wired PC connected to the AC2300 is now ok !?!?!? Don't understand. I had already replace the ethernet cable between the Modem and the Ac2300 before, with no difference to speed... now still using the same cable. With the action to disconnect the router, connect my pc directly, and reconnect the router, my speed got good, without any change to the settings. I'm puzzled...

@Videast Did you ever resolve the slow WiFi issue? I set up a new AC2300 today and am seeing exactly what you describe. The TP-Link app shows great speeds; ATT and Spectrum speed tests show horrible upload speeds (between 10Mbps and 100Mbps). My old router from Spectrum gives me ~230Mbps upload. So I'm really curious to hear how things turned out for you.
oh, I did make the settings changes they recommended for you - that seemed to take upload from 10Mbps to 100Mbps.

@LakesideZ I have been having the same issues with my Spectrum Gig speed and an AC 2300. I have a Cat 7 cable between the cable modem and and Cat 6a to my desktop where I am running speed tests. my best download speeds are high 600s. uploads are pretty consistent, usually 40. does anyone have a definitive answer to this problem?
