Model: Archer A2300
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.0.3 Build 20180611

I wanted to start off by saying this Archer AC2300 router seems to have amazing hardware with some great features, I've read many great reviews before deciding to make the purchase. I'm hoping to hang onto this product, however, I'm having issues that I'm hoping to clear up here.

I purchased this router to run my ExpressVPN since it has 1.8GHz dual processor and 512MB RAM which I figured would be plenty to handle the task. However, I was bummed out to learn it doesn't support ExpressVPN's OpenVPN, so I had to resort to L2TP. The connection seemed stable and fast at first, however, it dropped a couple of hours afterward. Then again, and again. Then soon after I was unable to hold a connection for even an hour or two. I'm connecting via wifi and have tried numerous Express VPN servers, different channels, and a multitude of different configurations in an attempt to gain a stable wifi connection over L2TP.

My connection is 100% stable running straight Dynamic without a VPN in the way, so I know it's not on my ISP's side. I have a 100Mbps connection and the routers RAM sits around 50% and CPU less than 10% usually.

Any thoughts on what I can do to get this thing working properly? Thanks in advance!

@JonEh21

Do you get any feedback in the system logs?
