Model: Archer AX3000
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Purchased a new TX3000 this month. Installed easily. Installed all latest firmware.

My Cox internet provider is giving me 940mbps as tested directly to modem. A wired device connection test on the new Archer router proved that this is working well through the router and wa salsa close to 935mbps on our two wired desktops.

However I am not seeing AX 2x2 speed to my AX enabled Galaxy S10.  At best I get 220mbps. I have tried different settings for channel, etc. But no differences. Standing closer to router doesn't help. My S10 says '6' on wifi connection icon and shows 600mbps on network speed in wifi settings. But i never get close doing speedtest.

By contrast my older iphone 7 work phone connects in AC mode and actually gets better performance - 350mbps.

What gives? Doesn't seem like the AX settings are right.. i bought this router specifically to improve performance and bandwidth to take advantage of my new cable modem speeds.

Sent a few emails and screenshots to tplink support. Tried the few ideas they gave me - channel width, encryption, etc. No dice yet. Latest email not answered yet.

My new AX enabled laptop(Lenovo Yoga c940 i7) is coming next week and I will test it also. But right now I am not sure my S10 is performing as it should.

Any help is appreciated!

Martin

@Mbonadio

When setting the channels for 5G, have you tried setting a DFS channel? What will happen is if those are set and the router detects something else already using the specified DFS channel it will revert to another one. You may need to keep testing different channels.

@Tony  yes. In fact I used wifi analyzer to look at my environment and chose DFS channel 140 as it avoids other nearby access points and has a strong stength. Same performance either that as well as auto.

After some playing I have seen some improvements.

At 80mhz width on channel 149 I am getting about 350 now. It did not like DFS.

Whats a little odd is that wifi analyzer shows it now sitting on top of another access point of lower power (must be a nearby neighbor). While the DFS range channels are all completely open on the graph. But when I tried them I had issues with slow speed again..

Currently shows -54 dbm and occupies 141-155 on the graph.

So far thats the best I can get. I am getting closer. Other suggestions???

@Mbonadio

You can try these drivers: link

If the setup wizard gives you an error, then you will need to manually install the inf file: link

@Tony these appear to be PC drivers. Right now I am just working on my router config and my S10 phone. But provided they are compatible with a mobile wifo Chiplset, these may come in handy next week when my new Lenovo comes in, so thanks.
