Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.4.7 Build 20200725 Rel. 63377

Hi,

I have an M5 mesh network configured in router mode and the wireless is working fine.

However I have a Synology NAS connected via Ethernet to an M5 and although it is showing in the M5 web-portal as a connected client I am unable to access it or even ping it from my laptop which is connected via wifi.

The NAS is on the same subnet as the laptop so I would expect to be able to access it:

NAS:  192.168.68.5

laptop: 192.168.68.102

I've even run tracert which gets as far as the M5 the NAS is wired into but gets no further.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

@Antler

If you were to connect your laptop directly to the Synology NAS are you able to log into it?

While your laptop is on the mesh network, is your laptop able to ping any other device?

What the subnet masks of the laptop and NAS?

@Tony

Thanks for your reply.

The Synology is accessible if I connect directly using a switch as I don't have a null-modem E/net cable.  The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

I am able to ping other devices on the 192.168.68 network and also my modem/router which is 192.168.0.1.

I've included a screenshot of the M5 admin devices list if that helps ?

Thanks.

@Antler

Since you have a modem/router, try switching the Deco to AP Mode, see if you are then able to log in.

If so, what is your network topology?

@michaelDom

Hi,

Apologies for leaving this unattended, I'd put the NAS to one side and your post reminded me.  I updated the firmware in the Deco units and retried the NAS and it is now working ok and so I guess that one of the changes in the Deco upgrade history resolved the problem.

Thanks for chasing this up, I think this ticket can now be closed.

Kind regards!
