Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi there,

I our house we use 9 Deco M5 overall.

All our devices support Wi-fi 5 (AC), but there is only 1 old device, that works on Wi-Fi 4 (N).

If this old device connects to our network, does it mean, that whole network will be slowed down in order to keep up with Wi-Fi 4 device ?

No,

The router supports b/g/n for 2.4 GHz, and ac/n/a for 5 GHz.

If your laptop connects and it supports AC it will connect using AC. If you have another wireless device that only supports N it will connect using N, while the laptop is unaffected still connected using AC. So every wireless device does not care what other devices are using.

No, it wil not affect your other devices. What will happen is that the older device will talk to the Decos at the speed the old device supports.

Hi,

So it is safe to say, that

Wi-FI 4 will get their speed
WI-fi 5 will get their speed ?

I thought, Wi-Fi get work only in 1 mode at the same time.

In other words, if router supports both N/AC modes
and wi-fi 4 device connects to this router, router will operate in N mode, everyone will be using N mode.
