I've been fighting with this router for 2 months now, even to the point that an RMA was issued and a replacement sent.  My original problem was the QoS cutting my speed in half, after getting the new router it was fine.  But suddenly it's decided that 1000Mbps is to fast so it changed the port to 100Mbps.  

 

I've gone into Advanced-system tools-system parameters to edited the duplex, changed it to 1000Mbps full-duplex.  It changes it back to 100Mbps . . . Oh, it must be a cable problem - it's not as stated above I was getting over 400Mbps prior.  

 

What can I do other than throw it out the window?

Have you tried resetting the cable? Both ends from router to PC (assume it is the PC that shows 100Mbs connection)? Same for modem to router.

 

Also tried a different cable? Might need a Cat5 or better as well.

 

Does it do this on all Ports on the router?

 

What speed do you get when you remove the cable from the router and plug it into the modem?

Like IrvSP said, do not rule that cable out. This is from a site on Ethernet cables - "Ethernet Cat 5 cables have eight wires (four pairs), but under 10BaseT and 100BaseT standards (10 Mbps and 100 Mbps, respectively) only four (two pairs) of these wires are actually used. One pair is used for transmitting data and the other pair is used for receiving data." So if one of the wires fails, you are back to 100 Mbps.
