Model: Deco X90
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Spectrum cable modem => Netgear hub (GS208) => X90, multiple wired devices

Wiring order of hub: Slot1 - ethernet to modem; Slot2 - X90; Slots 3,4,5,6 - various wired devices

Yesterday, I got the X90 working by connecting it directly to the modem (no hub).  Today when I rewired (as above) and found none of the non-X90 ports appear to work (traffic lights still flashing like crazy).

I have tried power cycling the modem, hub, and X90 without improvement.  I've done a number of experiments and it seems that I can either have the X90 work or the wired connections -- but not both at the same time.  I've swapped out ethernet cables and hub hoping there might be a broken wire or connector, but no improvement.

Right now, for example, I have everything connected as above. The X90 is working, although in using the app, I find I can't reboot or, check for updates,

I'd very much appreciate some guidance on how to proceed. The X90 is delivering amazing speeds and i really want this to work!

  @BlueGrits

Hi, welcome to the community.

I think you might need to adjust the network topology a little bit, such as:

Spectrum cable modem=> Main Deco X90 => Netgear hub (GS208) => multiple wired devices

You need to put the router between the cable modem and the network switch.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  @David-TP That worked perfectly -- thank you!  Out of curiousity, why didn't the approach I used work?  I thought the ethernet connection would be shared across all ports on the hub regardless of what's connected to the hub.
