Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

My Deco X60 remote unit is a brick. I can't connect using the 192.168.0.1 ip address under Method 2 as suggested in the solution.

Hardware version is US/2.6

There is an SSID listed under the MAC address - Deco_ADC4

Can I connect via the SSID to the Deco unit that is a brick?

Very frustrating how support provides half baked solutions that doesn't work.

Has anyone really tried to connect succesfully to a Deco X60 which has turned in to a brick?

Please help.

Thanks.

What solution are you referring to?  I would need to review what was provided before I can address it.

Hi Carl,

One of my Deco X60 has turned in to a brick (no idea how it happened). So I called the support and checked the forums on the solutions provided was to do a HTTP UBOOT Method.

I followed the instructions and used my iMac with a network port to connect to the X60. However I cannot open the page in the browser using the ip address 192.168.0.1 using private browsing and setting up my local ip address to 192.168.0.2.

Here's the link that I used.

Using the Firmware Recovery Tool

There are two methods to recover the Deco if it becomes brick: one is using the HTTP Uboot web-based interface to recover and the second is using the TFTP tool to recover.

Firmware Recovery Method

Supported Models

HTTP Uboot Method

Deco E4
Deco M4
Deco P9
Deco M9 Plus
Deco X20/X60 V1 (firmware 1.2.5 or later version)
Deco X20 V1.2 and later version
Deco X60 V2 and later

Deco S4

TFTP Tool

Deco M5

Deco P7

What am I doing wrong?

Also the hardware version is US/2.6. All other devices have updated to the latest firmware recently released.

Thanks.

For Step 2 in the instructions did you set your network adapter to 192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0?

  1. Steps to enter firmware recovery mode and perform firmware upgrade:
  1. Download the latest firmware of your Deco unit here: https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/
  2. Do not power on the Deco unit, connect the PC directly into one of the ethernet port of the Deco unit.
  3. Set a static IP address of 192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0 on the PC’s ethernet adapter.

Also does your iMac have an ethernet port or are you using a USB to Ethernet adapter?
