So I contacted support and got this reply which makes SPF+ unusable

SFP optical modules generate considerable heat. In our tests, some third-party brands' optical modules quickly heated up to over 60°C shortly after starting operation. As SFP+ optical modules have exposed metal surfaces, we are concerned about the risk of users getting burnt when inserting or removing SFP+ devices during this high-temperature period. Therefore, we choose to activate fans continuously to cool the SFP modules and ensure that the temperature does not rise too high.   Therefore, as long as the SFP+ port is plugged in, the fan will start working, which is expected behavior, please don't worry.

  @MichaelKo

So I'm from EU and I have beta firmware of 1.0.14 which fixes the issue. I see that US has already 1.0.14 so most likely it will be in next version. My firmware file just disables the fan and I've been told in official it will be a toggle in web UI.

Based on the response above regarding necessity to cool WiFi 7 more than previous iterations, I think the fan was designed with the assumption that sfp runs hotter... but that is not true.  Copper runs way hotter than fiber or even dac/twinax.  Please make the fan actually temperature-controlled not socket-controlled.  Fiber is COOLER

I have the 1.0.14-Firmware, but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. The fans still ramp to the max as soon as a transceiver is plugged in... Is there any news, if this Firmware was the fix or will this come in a future firmware?

  @Jimpanse_32

Are you from US? 1.0.14 got released way later in EU than US and in EU I don't have issue with fan now. It never starts.

  @Renive I live in the EU... Do you have a toggle somewhere in the settings, or did the fans just not ramp up that much by default?

It was by default. There's no toggle.Maybe having previously the beta firmware with the fix changed things? Can I post it here?

Is is possible to post the beta-firmware? :)

Maybe another question: do you know what Hardware-Version you have? 1?
