Model: UE300
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.6

The following page -  https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/ue300c/v2.6/ shows v2.6 but the actual drivers, regardless of it being Windows or Mac, are in a .zip file containing v2.0 Do Not Download - You will bring your driver/firmware backwards as I did. I have contacted support and have gotten no where.

They are saying 2.0 and 2.6 are the same and wont give me a copy/paste of Change Logs between v2.0 and 2.6.

If 2.0 and 2.6 are the same then why did they come up wth 2.6? I cant even get a v2.6 file from them to get my UE300C back up to 2.6.

Again - Do Not Download any of the files Windows or Mac unless you want to bring your driver/firmware backwards.

I have confirmed this backwards driver/firmware thru Mac OS System Information.

We do not provide change logs, but that does not mean what you were told is inaccurate. Usually, a post like this that provides incorrect information would be removed. However, in this case, we are responding to ensure there is no confusion.

Within the hardware version, the ending number is an indicator of which factory the product was manufactured in.  For example, a V2.0 is manufactured in one location, but a version 2.is manufactured in another. The actual hardware is the same; the only difference between a V2.0 and a V2.6 is where it's made.  This also alplies to 3-digit hardware versions a V2.20 and a V2.2are the same.  So when you download a driver for a V2.6, the driver may be named as a V2.0, but it is safe to download and install.

@Carl  Since my driver/firmware was allowed to go backwards via TP-Link software on this UE300C, I have since disabled automatic firmware updates via TP-Link Tether app for my AX4400 router and my RE220 extender. There is no place in the Tether app to disable automatic firmware updates for my RE705X extender like I can the AX4400 and RE220.

Why is this? The current RE705X firmware is 1.0.11 20230731 Rel. 41461 and I want it so firmware never updates unless I research it 1st and then tell it to update.

Will the next update to Tether app for Mac and IOS resolve this?

As far as I am aware, the Extender does not have automatic updates.  When it is connected to a TP-Link ID it has online and offiline updates available.  It may notify you when you log in that an update is available but it does not process an update until you designate to do so.
