Model: Archer BE800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.2

I just realized this BE800 works so badly on reboots.

E.g. last time I realized it somehow lost my IoT network's password (SSID was ok) and no IoT devices were able to connect until I fixed the password.

Also it lost the OpenVPN certificates. So I don't know what this feature is for. I cannot just re-generate the certificate and update all the clients' config. It's such a joke.

OK, please don't tell me "backup and restore". This is completely broken. I tried it multiple times, clearly it's buggy. sometimes it dumps me a ~30K file but sometimes only ~10K. I was able to try the 10K last time when I found out it lost my settings and you know BE800 simply tells me it's bad file. Well it should be... I can tell from the difference of sizes. I don't know how to make it work since normally you'd expect after rebooting, everything should be fine but this one just lost settings, almost like randomly. I have to check what it actually loses first.

I was thinking I might have bought a good router by paying this for 300+$ but it cannot even do a simple thing my years old router can do flawlessly.

Hello @demonstrate

Thank you for posting on the TP-Link Community.

Do you enable Reboot Schedule on the BE800?

Could you please provide a detailed network topology showing how the devices are connected, including whether there are switches, extenders, or EasyMesh routers?

As suggested in this thread, you can export the configuration file on the BE800 and email it to forumsupport.usa@tp-link.com for further investigation.

So here is the thing. For one day, there was an outage. The router lost all settings after the power was recovered. I did set up a reboot schedule. And after reboot, it lost partial settings like IoT network's password. And the backup file is deemed as corrupted.

My network is not too complicated. I have an ISP's modern which connects to BE800's WAN port. There is a RE653BE wifi extender, which joined the EasyMesh of BE800.

Unfortunately I cannot provide my configuration file since it may contain sensitive setup information in my home. I don't know what kind of training you have but I don't think it would be an appropriate request for this. You should think of a better approach for helping customers without sacrificing their privacy.

Hello @demonstrate

We understand your concerns about privacy, and we want to assure you that the sole purpose of collecting your device configuration files is to address the unintended behaviors you've reported. We have absolutely no intention of using these files for any other purpose.

Currently, without the specific configuration files from your device, we find ourselves lacking an effective way to pinpoint the root cause of the reported anomaly. Analyzing these files is crucial to understanding the unique settings and conditions of your device, which will enable us to provide you with a more accurate solution.

However, we fully respect your decision. If you're not comfortable providing the configuration files, we completely understand and will not pressure you.

In light of the situation, we'd like to suggest an alternative. You can contact our support team to initiate an RMA request. If your product is still within the warranty period and there has been no improper use on your part, you are eligible to apply for an RMA to get a replacement. When applying for the RMA, you can provide this conversation [Forum ID 852560] for our support agent's reference to increase efficiency.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.
