Deco BE13000 Wireless Node Fails to Re-establish 5 GHz/6 GHz Backhaul After Network Optimization
I have a Deco mesh network with three BE13000 units and one BE11000, running in Router Mode. I have one BE13000 that uses wireless backhaul directly to the Main BE13000. I also have a BE13000 unit that uses ethernet backhaul and the BE11000 unit uses ethernet backhaul as well.
If I'm using Ultra High Speed mode, the wireless node normally uses 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz backhaul. However, every time I run Network Optimization, it falls back to 2.4 GHz only and never recovers 5 GHz or 6 GHz, even after waiting an hour. Rebooting the node is the only thing that will re-establish the tri-band backhaul.
If I set it to Stable mode instead (which is preferred as I have a number of IoT devices), running Network Optimization causes the node to go offline in the app entirely until it is rebooted, but the light will still be green on the unit itself. The only thing I can do to fix the node at this point is to unplug it from the wall and plug it back in.
Troubleshooting Performed
- Confirmed the wireless backhaul node normally connects to the Main Deco.
- Moved the node physically closer to the Main Deco.
- Tested both Stable Mode and Ultra High Speed Mode.
- Waited over an hour after Network Optimization to allow the node to recover, which it did not.
- Rebooted only the wireless backhaul node, which immediately restored normal tri-band operation.
- Confirmed the issue is reproducible every time Network Optimization is run.
- Verified that the 2 wired nodes continue functioning normally.
- Confirmed signal strength does not appear to be the issue, since rebooting the wireless backhaul node restores 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz backhaul without changing placement.
- Tested changing DNS servers from Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), with no change.
- Observed that the problem only occurs after Network Optimization is run.
- Re-installed the latest firmware, did not fix the problem.
I have also switched the main deco to another BE13000 and the issues with the wireless backhaul after network optimization remain.
The issue is consistently reproducible and does not appear to be related to signal strength or placement, as the issues still occur with the satellite Deco moved a lot closer to the main Deco. Could this be investigated or escalated to engineering? I would also like to know if there is newer or beta firmware available that addresses this issue. When my network used only BE11000 units I did not have this problem - it seems that these brand new units are extremely unstable right now, and I am having to reboot them multiple times a day in order to get stable internet. Also, I'm unsure if this is normal or not, but every time I look at the Main Deco in the Deco app, its CPU is between 65-90% and memory around 50%.
Has anyone with this BE13000 unit experienced similar behavior? If so, how did you fix it?
