@JKH

It depends on the Light strip but yes in general terms the HS220 will work with a light or a bank of lights.  The bulbs would need to be dimable.

@JKH

Actually, probably not. LED strips have no built in compensation like dimmable 120V Led bulbs, and do not play nice with lowered voltage for dimming. I assume your using the standard 12V LED strip. Dimmers for those use PWM technology - they put out 12 volts all  the time as a square wave. Dimming is achieved by adjusting the width of the pulse.

I suggest that if you only want to set and forget the light level, or change it occasionally, go with an inexpensive PWM dimmer on the 12V side.

If you really want to have a lot of automated control over the strip, then the pricey HUE light strips are the way to go. I use one around the glass on my bar and it's very cool.

@artworksmetal I just completed the install this evening.  Works wonderfully!  Alexa loves it (turn on/off)...to pre-set brightness.  At least for now, no issues.  Dimmable transformer (100W) more than sufficient wattage to power the high-density led strips (4.4W/Lft x ~19').  HS220 will operate manually if desired and dims/brightens with no degradation of Kelvin (3,000 in this application).

@JKH

Well, I stand completely corrected. I'm curious what Power Supply worked for you.

Glad it was successful. I love working with LED strip lights.

@JKH I am looking at doing something similar..... What transformer did you use?

@JKH Id like to know what you set up. What equipment?

Hello.  I just came across this thread, and recently completed a setup which includes the HS220, a 100W Magnitude M-series magnetic dimmable 24v LED transformer, and over 16ft 24v LED tape light.  It all seems to work great!  I was worried that the HS220 and the transformer would not be compatible, but there hasn't been any flickering or overheating (crossing fingers!).

Before purchasing this setup, I saw a TP-Link's FAQ which indicated that "The dimmer type of our HS220 belongs to Incandescent/Halogen (forward phase control), based on TRIAC," and figured it would work with the Magnitude LED driver since it as also based on TRIAC.
