Archer A20 V3 Constantly Restarting
Archer A20 V3 Constantly Restarting
New Archer A20 V3 is constantly restarting every few minutes. Thought at first it was just wireless dropping off, but realized the device is entirely rebooting over and over.
My testing appears to show that these reboots only occur if I have multiple wireless bands enabled at once and I have clients connected to several. If I only have a single Wireless Radio enabled (and it can be any, 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz-1, or 5Ghz-2) and the others disabled, that my connection remains stable.
I am on Firmware 1.0.3 Build 20191026 re.16299, which I updated to immediately upon initial setup. I can't find an older firmware to fall back on, and Factory Reset brings it back to same firmware version--any way to get an older version?
Happy to provide additional information or try other configuration options.

I would try the following:
1. connect your computer directly to your cable modem
2. download the latest firmware again from the TP-Link website
3. manually try re-flashing the firmware using the downloaded file
Good luck . . .

Just wanted to add too, disconnect all the cables, and take the router and the power adapter to a completely differnt part of your residence, and plug it in. I have seen cases where the outlet being used causing the reboots.

Thanks all. I did manually download the firmware and flash it -- no luck. I still would like to try going back to the factory stock firmware but not sure where it's available or how to do that.
I have tried a different outlet in another part of the house. Same behiavior.
The router is perfectly stable when only one of the 3 wireless bands is enabled and in use. Once clients connect to more than one band, is when the router starts rebooting itself.

I'm seeign similar behavior as listed on this thread. Do you have something that you suggested on the DM to share generally?

Support had been trying to get a hold of the person. In which case the suggestion would be to follow up with our support team at that point.

I'm having similar problems. My router reboots every 2 minutes, but only when an external USB drive is attached. Without the drive attached the router runs fine.
Please advise.
Thank you.

If the drive pulls more then .5 amps then it should have its own power supply. Also check the power supply you are using for the router is the right one.

The drive has its own power supply, which it's using. And the router is using the correct power supply as well.
I have tried a different external hard drive and the router has no issue. Are there limits to the TB size of the drive that can be connected to this router? Does the connected drive have to be formatted in a specific way (ExFat vs HFS+)?

The connected drive needs to be NTFS, FAT32, exFAT,HFS+.
What are the format and sizes of the ones that works and does not?
