HS220 flicker once when turning on
I just set up a HS220 today and everything else works fine except for one problem, my default brightness is always 100%, and when I turn on the light, the brightness will flicker like 0%->100%->75%->100%, then it is stable. The light is a LED light, adjustment of brightness just works fine after turning on. I tried to change the fade on speed but that didn't help, any idea what the problem it might be? Any suggestion is appreciated.

@Carl I have the same problem with two different kinds of bulbs. They dim fine. The only issue is that when the switch is set to 100%, it blinks when it turns on. It seems like an issue with the switch?

Typically that is the bulb and the dimming technology its based one. It could also be the wiring, such as a wirenut being loose. But we don't normally see that concern being caused by the switch.

@Carl could you share some bulbs that would work? I'm having a hard time finding if bulbs are TRIAC.

No that is not the case there are bulbs that do work in this classification. However, because they are 3rd party products and TP-Link does not have any affliation with these 3rd party compaines we cannot give any recommendations, less we be held liable if they don't work. This is why I last recommended to reach out directly to the bulb manufacture and ask them which of their products matches this specific specification.

@Troy01 I went through multiple brands of LED bulbs and most of them were buzzing or flickering with the HS220. The best one I found (Philips EyeComfort) was not flickering or humming but flash one time when turned on at 100%. It does not flash when the "fade on speed" is set to "instant". It will still flash one time if the light is dimmed and you go up to 100%, but weird enough won't flash if you go up to 99% instead (through the app or Home Assistant).

@JeePeeQC Did you find any resolution to this issue?

@CarterT FYI for those who see this later, I did solve the flashing issue for me. I was using incorrect bulbs. The ones that flashed were GE Reveal LEDs (BR30). Instead I downgraded and got GE Basic Br30 LEDs which solved my issue.

@Troy01 I found that if I set mine to always turn on at 98% rather than 100% that fixed the problem. Now the lights don't flash once when they turn on.
