Hello everyone!

We would like to introduce you to one of the newest members of our Smart Home product family.  Meet the Kasa Smart KS220M Motion Sensing Smart Dimmer Switch.  This new product combines the proven technology behind the HS220 smart dimmer switch and combines it with a customizable sensor that detects motion and ambient light.

Let’s take a minute to get to know the new KS220M.

Snap-on Face Plate:  As with our other Kasa smart switches the KS220M comes with a removable snap-on face plate.  As with our other smart switches, the KS220M conforms to Decora standards and generic Decora faceplates, including multi-gang faceplates can be used with the KS220M as well.

Dim Control Buttons:  These buttons allow for physical control of the KS220M’s dimming function.  Dimming can also be controlled through Voice controls and through the Kasa app.

*Note:  Voice control requires Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant

Motion and Ambient Light Sensor:  The motion sensor allows you to control the status of the KS220M (on or off) with detection of motion in the sensor’s field of view. The ambient sensor allows the switch to detect ambient light to ensure the switch is not triggered during the day allowing you to better control your power usage and prolong the life of the lights in the room.

Professional Fresnel Lens:  A Fresnel lens, utilizing the same technology used in lighthouses, allows for motion and light detection up to 25 feet away and in a 120-degree field of view.

On/Off Toggle:  As with our other smart home switches the KS220M features a manual on/off toggle.  Just like the dimming function, this on/off feature can also be controlled through Voice and app controls, along with unique motion and light detection control

LED Indicator (night light):  Another carry over from our other smart switches is the LED indicator.  This round LED light illuminates when the switch is toggled off and helps safely locate the switch in a dark room.

Reset/Restart Buttons:  Below the toggle switch are the KS220M’s reset and restart buttons.  These are typically used for troubleshooting and reconfiguring of the switch.

Other Features:

Additional features include cloud-based remote control, a fade in and out feature and the use of the Kasa app based Smart Actions that allow you to use the switch to control other Kasa smart home products.  Furthermore, as with most Kasa products, no hub is required.  The product effortlessly connects to your home router via the 2.4GHz network. With the improved circuit design, you no longer need to use an electron probe to identify your line and load wires, thus providing you with an easy installation process.

Known Concerns:

We have received some feedback and negative reviews regarding the sensor on the KS220M.  We have reviewed this feedback and determined the cause of the concern is that the sensor must be properly configured before it will function within your installation environment.  This KB article provides a step-by-step guide on how to completely configure the sensor after the KS220M has been added to your network.

Where to Buy:
