When my cellphone Kasa app is off (closed) does the camera send a signal. Cloud setting NOT configured. I have metered Internet satellite usage and don't want to consume all my data allotment.

@preese I git only 19GB per month. It is not mobile dat as it i coming via Satellite. Hughesnet, sadly the only internet option I have.

I'm afraid we have not tested the data usage to sustaining camera basic functions before. As I confirmed the data mainly is used for camera live-streaming. For Kasa camera with cloud storage like KC120, data also consumed for motion & sound detection, camera will upload sound or motion video clip to the cloud. Please check FAQ for more details Part6: Q7.2: How much data will my Kasa camera use when watching live video or uploading the clips to Cloud?

Personally I recommend a Kasa camera with SD card feature, so the video clip saved in the SD card that would save more data compared to upload video clip to cloud.
