At CES 2024, we announced a plethora of matter-compatible devices to add to our expanding lineup of Matter-compatible hubs, plugs, lights, and switches. Since then, we have received quite a few requests about what devices you most want to see matter-compatibility added to.

With the Matter Protocol shaping up to provide a seamless cross-platform experience, now could not be a better time to request matter support for specific devices.

If you would like to submit a request for a matter-compatible product or would like to learn more about a specific aspect of the Matter Protocol, please visit the quick survey below:

What Matter Device Do You Want to See Next?

If you are already using the Matter Protocol in your home, our team would love to hear what your experience has been and what platforms you are using your Matter devices in the comment section below. We look forward to being able to share your request and recommendations directly with our product team for consideration!

Please keep in mind that the Matter Protocol is still in development, and many of the features of the protocol are platform-dependent. This feedback will be used to help get a better understanding of everyone’s preferences and experiences, it is not a guarantee that a device will be developed or released.

  @Riley_S

I would love to see the KS240 get Matter support, as well as a three way switch.

  @Riley_S and a Matter Button alongside the AP, I know there can't be remotes at the moment but a button can work with multi/long-press. I've got one of those and another on the way.

I'd most like to see a Matter enabled version of the: Kasa KS230 KIT (3-way switch w/dimmer) But actually I'd like to see Matter enabled versions of all current Kasa smart switches including (in order of importance): Kasa KS 220M (motion activated switch w/dimmer) Kasa KS240 (ceiling fan control w/dimmer) And finally I'd like to see a Matter enabled, Tapo S200D style, battery powered, surface mounted, remote button switch.

Hey @Pro1,

These devices are definitely on our teams' radar as some of the most highly requested devices, and I will make sure to add your feedback. The support given in this survey has already done a lot for the potential development of a 3-way dimmer and switch, with hopefully many devices set to follow.

Specifically for a fan and dimmer switch, we are still awaiting proper controls from the Matter Protocol - with this being the main reason the KS240 was originally released with Apple HomeKit support instead. I would imagine that a motion-activated switch would most likely be relying on similar requirements.

Do the current KS line of smart switches have the hardware to be updated to support Matter via firmware push?

  @Khaitzu,

Not that I know of. Matter has very specific requirements that really need to be considered from the start of development. We do have the KS205 and KS225 which are Matter varients of our switch and dimmer, however there are more Matter-compatible device types on the way.
