Hi,

I bought three deco BE85 and not so happy so far, especially for the prices it costs...
Why there is no ability to put MTU higher than 1500, to enable Jumbo Frames? Some other customers have already complains but the answer from the community manager is basically a simple "f*ck you" (even no answer at all : https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/667904 or a very reta*ded one : https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/617034?replyId=1232838 that contradict own TP-Link's documentation on jumbo frames https://www.tp-link.com/fr/support/faq/910/)
In my case, I at the very least need jumbo frames for accessing my nas through local network, everything works except the router...

I have spend nearly 1800€ of Deco in my house in one time purchase, only to discover it doesn't support somethings as basics as jumbo frames or wireguard vpns, it seems that not a lot of support are available, the latest firmware is from 15th August 2024, so it seems it's not well maintained, especially for all the features it lack...

Isn't it supposed to be one of your best router? Why doesn't enable theses software options, that a dev could implements in a few hours max (at least for jumbo frames)? Why they even seems to be available for cheaper model, that are tailored for way less bandwidth (???
I really don't think this is hw issue as the router is able to handle huge bandwidth, I would swear it's some shi*ty practice that aim to maximize the benefits at the detriments of the quality, and in this case it seems very, very abusive.

I strongly regret buying them, and will do A LOT of negative publicity on reddit and others platforms, to make the maximums possible peoples aware of what is nearly a scam (seriously, not supporting theses features on a so higher price device, that is supposed to work at a very high bandwidth... what a joke) if theses don't land in a future upgrade.
I haven't the habit to react like that, I usually use FOSS and communautary solutions and have a WAY better experience, at least the devs answer directly instead of an incompetent that is only here to appease the customers, and it's the FOSS and communautary that own nothing to their users. Theses kinds of problems on a so pricy device are totally unacceptable, even more the lack of communication. If it's not possible or not planned, at the very least tell it clearly here so I can resell them and find another solution.

Sorry for the rant, but I don't have a lot of money and it's too late to reship them, so I'm very dependant on a future upgrade that ship theses features, even more when it's clear it's minimal effort to add them (the MTU limits even seems artificially blocked to 1500, which is so ret*rded...). Please, do something about it, the situation is far from acceptable for now.

This is also very important for the future of theses devices, what you will do in 5 years if you still don't support that?

Thanks you,

Best regards

@Frog3541 the latest firmware does support wireguard but I do share your thoughts about the features at this price point.

@Mudslideyo Nice, do you know if it's planned to land on BE85? Also, do you have any news related to the Jumbo Frames MTU? I was upset last night and more calm today, but I see that not even the community manager has replied (I don't think devs even check this forum?), theses practices are totally unacceptable for a product of this price and for a company of this size, little community do way better than them through codeberg/github... I deeply regret buying theses, I should have find a better solution, even if it's meant to pay even more or spend more time on it. Thanks for your answer anyway, it's still nice to hear that there maybe is some hope!

@Frog3541 Welcome.  I am just another customer so no insight to what they are currently working on or whats coming.  I would love to know myself. :)  You are also right about this forum being a ghost town with more posts by bots then humans.  I have been happy with them so far buy I agree there should be much more for the price point.  For me I would love to see what UPNP ports are currently being used or more insights to what the firewall is allowing/blocking.  Much of the work it is doing seems to be in the background without much visability. For an IT person like myself this is less then desired for something geared towards small business then normal home users.

For you I would suggest opening a support case directly with your MTU request stating this is an issue and why arn't you allowed to do this.  No idea how helpful it will be buts it another avenue you can use if not already.

Thanks!
