  • Starting with the Deco M5_V1/V2/V3/V3.2, a beta firmware has been developed to address the behaviors. We recommend that affected users install the firmware from the links below. As we gather feedback and verify the fix, similar patches will be applied to other affected models.

  • Note:  Pre-release and Beta firmware should be used at your own discretion. We cannot guarantee the functionality of features or technical support for Pre-Release or Beta Firmware.

  • If you are not comfortable using beta firmware, please wait for the official fix or contact our support teams for assistance.

If you observe any unusual network activity, such as frequent disconnections, please verify whether there are suspicious entries within Network Security. If your experience with Deco is unrelated to these issues, kindly start a new thread with detailed information about the observed behavior so our teams can address your concern promptly.

If you have encountered a similar phenomenon but do not see the attacking or blocking entries within Network Security, please provide your Deco model number(s), firmware version(s), and a screenshot of the relevant record in the comments below.

Help Needed: Installing Beta Firmware M5 1.9.1-P1 (Access Point Mode)
Sunday

  @Ryan

Dear Ryan,

I'm writing regarding the beta firmware patch you published for Deco M5 (version 1.9.1-P1, build 20250926) to address the stability issues in firmware 1.9.1.

My Current Setup:

  • 1 Deco X50 V1.30 (main Deco) - Firmware 1.2.10
  • 7 Deco M5 V3 units (satellites) - Firmware 1.9.1 Build 20250909 Rel 37570
  • Operating in Access Point Mode (connected behind my main router)
  • Location: Argentina

The Problem: My network has been experiencing the exact instabilities described in the forum post - frequent connection drops and devices losing connectivity temporarily. Your beta firmware appears to be the solution I need.

Installation Challenge: I've been unable to find a practical way to install the beta firmware:

  1. Deco App: No manual firmware upload option available
  2. Web Interface: Cannot access via browser (tried both tplinkdeco.net and the Deco IP addresses) - likely because I'm in Access Point Mode
  3. Update Assistant Utility: Not available on the TP-Link download page

Options I've Found (all problematic):

  • Firmware Recovery Mode for each unit individually - requires manual IP configuration and processing 7 units one-by-one
  • Switch to Router Mode temporarily - would require disconnecting my main router and cause extended network downtime
  • Factory reset each Deco - significant time investment and network reconfiguration

My Question: Is there a Deco M5 Update Assistant utility available that could detect and update my M5 units while in Access Point Mode? Or is there a simpler method I'm overlooking for this specific scenario?

I'm comfortable with technical procedures, but I need to minimize network downtime as multiple people work from home on this network.

Thank you for your work on this patch and any guidance you can provide.

Best regards,
Ramon Igarreta
