Model: HS200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Sometime today all my HS200 switches (3 of them) went offline, while my dimmer switch (I forget the model) works.

I've tried resetting one (held reset 5s until it blinked) to no avail - it blinks green and orange but the app can't connect.

I've killed the power to one of the switches, no change

I've reset my WiFi router, no change.

I see nothing on my router that would block them.

The Kasa app simply says they're unreachable

We're HS200 switched remotely deactivated or something today? (In June Samsung remotely deactivated my SmartThings hub v1 costing me 200$, so this wouldn't be unprecedented)

@Solla-topee

Hi,

They LED status on the 2 HS200 and the one HS210 was red.

Today I removed them from my app, fully reset them, and re-added them.

It's just so strange that the of them, all on different circuits, failed at the same time, but a fourth (the dimmer) didn't.

Hello @MatthewTP

May I know how about the Led status when smart switch stopped working, is it flashing green, red or amber and green?

If switch was working fine before, try to factory reset smart switch later reconnect one of them to Wi-Fi router

How to reset TP-Link Kasa smart switch and plug?

If set up failed, please try some suggestions in guide here:

What should I do if I fail to configure the Kasa device?

If still failed, may I know at which step the configuration fails , what is the error message on kasa app? How about the Led status after set up. What is the model of router, is it  model+ extender?

Hello @MatthewTP

Glad to hear that you are able to add them back.

Red Wi-Fi led means kasa switch  disconnected from router Wi-Fi, that could be caused by some wireless interference in the Wifi, or weak signal or some other reasons,

- Please confirm the HS220 have strong Wi-Fi signal from router, lower than -70dBm you may need put router closer

What should I do if I cannot control my Kasa device?

- you could reserve an IP address for HS200 on the main router

You could monitor the connection from now on, if this happens again, can I know the model of router, do you use any extender or switch to connect to router directly,  signal strength on kasa switch, please share the Mac address of HS200 in private message, thank you.

@Solla-topee

I don't think weak wifi makes sense as a hypothesis.  The switches worked for months before this, and the three switches that all failed together were far apart from each other.  One only a few feet from the router, another in the basement, another in another room.  Plus the WiFi on them is working perfectly now.

Whatever impacted them seems to:

- be WiFi strength independent

- only impact the H200 and H210

- age independent (one switch is 2 years old, one was only a few months old)

- unrelated to power (they're all in different circuits)

I'll try reserving their IP addresses.

Thanks
