Devices show up as offline after KASA app update to 3.03 build 1098

Ever since my KASA app was updated the devices show up as offline even though they are connected to the network.
EV 40 smart outdoor plug.
the crazy thing is that timed actions are still working, i just can't turn them on and off manually
have tried uninstalling and reinstalling
there are huge numbers of post/ratings in the google play store complaining of similar problems with this update

but nevermind
after some combination of uninstalling, reinstalling and restarting phone, all seems to be working again
i'm sorry i can't say what actually fixed it

Please keep the kasa app up to date.
