I reached out to my neighbors and several said Tapo cameras were great. One gave me a C425 to try oiut. Said it would take 5 minutes to add to my home newtork and they  "worked great". Only it doesn't!   I charged the battery; loaded the app to my iphone12;. went through all the blinking lights stuff and after all this, it simply failed. As mentioned, this is an iphone 12;  I have Xfinity cable and rent an Xfi modem/router. Looking at the Gateway software,  there are two networks (Bubba) with the same SSID one is 2.4 and the other is 5.0. I am told this is standard and most devices that require 2.4 simply find it. Only I keep getting no 2.4 network is available. I have invested 6 hours. I have loaded and then deleted and reloaded the app three times. I even reset my gateway which messed up everyone in the house. This is simple: I went through the setup at least three times. Every time, this FAILS and says no 2.4 Ghz network found. I found others that have had this issue and while some got their camera to work, they honestly didn't know what they did to get it working.  This is fundamentally simple: nothing in your directions addresses this and this rather simple process keeps failing. This should not be happening. I have standard equipment from reputable companies with the exception it would appear, of your camera. WIllgive it a day or so but giving the camera back. Complete waste of time.

  @Bluespicker Did you in fact connect the phone WiFi to the temporary camera network (Step #5) as described in the setup video, starting at the 1 minute mark (see video link)? Once you connect to your phone, you then proceed to choose an appropriate 2.4GHz home network. Be patient as my connection failed once or twice but then connected. I hope that helps.

  @Bluespicker I had a similar issue this morning. I had three TC85 cameras successfully connected but could not get a C425 additional camera to connect.  I tried for quite a while. 

 

The C425 is the same camera as TC85 except for some packaging differences. So out of desperation I selected TC85 instead of C425 in the app and it instantly connected.  I have no idea why.  Maybe I just got lucky and it would have connected that time with C425, or maybe since I already had TC85's on my network it worked. 

 

But maybe it's worth a try.

  @Walt_2024 Following the directions was rather easy and yes, I did every step... right up to the pairing which failed as the message was no 2.4 Ghz network found. I have Xfinity internet and decided to just rent their router/modem which was a mistake as they have removed setting many of the network features which they call automating them. Today, I noticed that the secuiry setting of WPA2 was now set. I could not set this previoulsy as it wasn't on the drop down menu as a choice rather they ahd WPA2 grouped along with several others as the only choice. I went through the direction again and  everything worked except now, the software says "Weak network SIgnal" cannot initiaize. The camera was sitting 2 inches from the modem/router. My PC is on the other side of the house, I have phone, a tablet as does my son and my wife. We haveTvs, xboxes ect all over the house and yet this camera cannot pick up the network. The camera is simply not able to get a network signal yet everything esle in the house works. From what I gather, Xfinity is trying to sell me a device for 2.4 Ghz that boasts the signal. I am headed to best buy to get a new modem/router but I am afraid it will not work if the camera can't obtain the network signal.  My question, what do others use and is a 2.4 Ghz booster required?

  @Bunyipb I think Xfinity modem/router is cutting signal strength on the 2.4 Ghz to force me to buy a boaster. I couldn't get a 2.4 Ghz signal on the camera with the camera literally sitting 2 inches away form the modem/router. My problem is: is this booster 100% required on 2.4 networks all the time or can I just replace the modem/router and fix this

It is very interesting that your phone can detect the Xfinity 2.4GHz WiFi signal but the C425 cannot. Sorry, beyond my technical experience. FYI, I am using the TP-Link Archer AX4400 WiFI router (Walmart). A most excellent router for blasting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz through all my walls (with no signal attenuation (loss)) and easily created a WiFi "bubble" of approximately 200 ft. radius around my house (until very low signal strength). Note that this all depends on your particular placement in the home as well. I enjoy the TP-Link interface on the web (and phone app "Tether") for setting passwords, knowing who/what is connected, and setting up "GUEST NETWORK" on both frequencies for devices like the Tapo camera, Hub, and my robotic vacuum. Note that there is an additional GUEST NETWORK setting to enable: "Guests can see each other" otherwise the camera and hub won't see each other. My security settings are set to "WPA/WPA2 -Personal" from the TP-Link interface wifi security setting window. (Home network setting is WPA2/-PSK[AES]). As I mentioned earlier, it took 2 or 3 consecutive attempts to connect the camera for me. Now all works fine.
