C520WS not releasing old IP address

C520WS not releasing old IP address

Model: Tapo C520WS
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.6

I have a network with 3xC520WS, 2xC100, 2xC200, 1xC320WS and 1xD230S1 /H200 it's all connected via 5 x DECO M9 plus with firmware 1.6.3

After changing the DHCP range on the Deco, the 3 C520WS are stuck on the old IP addresses.  Reboot will not help.

After doing some testing it seems like the C520WS will stick to the first IP address it ever got. And even if rebooting the whole network it will take the same address it had even if the IP is now assigned to another unit first thereby creating an IP address conflict.

This seems to be only the C520WS that has this problem.

Simple test to prove this.

Setup the network with DHCP range 192.168.1.100 - 120

Install a C520WS and add to network.

Then change the IP range to

192.168.1.150-170

Then reboot network and C520 and you will see that the C520 still has an address in the 100-120 span.

Assume a firmware update is needed to fix this bug?

Thanks

Henrik

  @Mosquito68

Hi,
Have you watched the Tapo C520WS on a third-party app such as VLC or iSpy via RTSP/ONVIF stream? If so, please disconnect the RTSP/ONVIF connection, reboot the camera, and check if the camera's IP address will change when the router changes the DHCP range.
Best Regards

  @Mosquito68 The only thing that fixed this for me was a factory reset of the camera. Until then it would not take the DHCP reserved address i had set for it subsequent to already adding the camera to the account.

  @lllllllll

Hi,
Thank you for the case report. We are trying to solve the issue, and any relevant information you can provide is appreciated.
  1. What's the model number of your camera?

  2. Please confirm if you have configured the Camera Account on the Tapo app > Camera's Device Settings > Advanced Settings page.
  3. Have you established the Onvif connection on a third-party app to stream the camera's live feed?
Best Regards
