This is my first post in the community, and I’m writing because I have a few questions/doubts about my first TP-Link router, the Archer GE800.

Previously, I’ve always used Netgear routers (the last one being a Nighthawk AX12 RAX120) or Asus routers (the last one being a ROG Rapture GT-AX6000), so I’m used to their web interfaces (Netgear’s was terrible, while Asus’s was great) and apps (Netgear’s was decent, Asus’s was good).

I found the GE800’s web interface to be somewhere in between: definitely better than Netgear’s but not as complete as Asus’s. However, the app seems much more feature-rich.

As for performance, the router seems like an absolute beast!

Now, onto my questions:

1. On my Asus router, I had configured the DNS to use a dedicated provider (Control D) via DoH. From what I understand, this feature is not available on the GE800, and only recently has TP-Link started releasing firmware with DoH/DoT support. Is there any timeline for when this will be available for the GE800?

2. On both Netgear (via the app) and Asus (via the web interface), I could run a speed test directly from the router. I couldn’t find this option on the GE800, either through the web interface or the app. Am I missing something, or is this feature simply not available?

3. Since I’ve had the router for two weeks, I’ve started the Security+ trial period. I obviously don’t know yet how well it works, but I ran into this situation: a website was inaccessible, and I couldn’t figure out why. After some troubleshooting, I checked the Tether app and saw that the site was blocked under “Web Protection.”

Now, the website is safe, and I need to access it. However, I can’t find any way to whitelist it. Nor can I exclude a specific device (for example, my Mac, which is updated, has antivirus protection, etc.) from Web Protection. The only option I see in the Tether app is to disable Web Protection entirely.

From what I found on Google, the only “solution” seems to be reporting the site as “not dangerous” to Avira and waiting for them to unblock it—if they ever do. This doesn’t seem like a good approach.

Ideally, I’d like to keep Web Protection enabled on the router while being able to manage a whitelist, so I don’t have to disable the feature entirely (which defeats the purpose of paying for it). Am I missing something, or is there currently no solution for this?
