Hello Everyone,


We're thrilled to announce the release of the pre-release firmware for Archer GE800/GE550/GE650 V1. This update introduces wireless driver enhancements for improved system stability and compatibility, along with a lot of new features like DoH/DoT, ECO Mode, and EasyMesh in AP mode. We encourage you to try out this version of firmware and take advantage of the following features. Your feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

 

New Features and Modifications:

1. Upgraded wireless drivers for enhanced system stability and compatibility.

2. Updated WebUI color scheme from blue-black to red-black.

3. Added RGB Light sync and control in Mesh mode.

4. (Archer GE800 V1 only) Newly added Cooling Control to allow you to select a cooling mode for optimal performance.

You can modify the settings based on your needs by navigating to Advanced > System > Cooling Control.

5. Added EasyMesh feature in AP mode.

6. Newly support EasyMesh Topology Map.

7. Newly support DoH/DoT.
8. Newly support ECO mode.
9. Newly support WebUI in EasyMesh Satellite/Agent mode, providing functions like LED control, reboot, firmware upgrade, and more.

10. Newly support Guest network isolation from the main network in AP mode.

11. Newly support setting Wi-Fi Schedule separately for different Wi-Fi channels.

12. Newly support multi-selection in the Access Control allow list function.

13. Newly support setting the client IP range of the PPTP/L2TP/IPsec VPN server to match the main network's DHCP range.

14. Optimized USB sharing performance.

15. Optimized the overall system stability and performance.

 

Firmware Download:

Before the Upgrade

(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the pre-release firmware!

(2) For the sake of insurance, it's always recommended to save a copy of the router Backup Config file before upgrading or downgrading.

(3) This pre-release firmware for Archer GE800/GE550/GE650 V1 can be applied to all versions (EU/US/AU/CA/etc).

(4) You may follow the guide to upgrade the firmware of your router. How to Upgrade the Firmware on the TP-Link Wi-Fi Routers.

(5) The screenshots in this article are taken from the web GUI of Archer GE800 V1 for reference only.

(6) This version of software can be degraded to the previous official version.

The firmware version of GE800 that was first posted on the webpage was definitely version 1.2.0, but it changed to version 1.1.6?  @Kevin_Z

Dear TP-Link Team,

I noticed with interest your recent announcement regarding the new firmware for the GE800 router. I truly appreciate your ongoing support and development for these high-end devices.

If possible, I would like to kindly request the addition of several important features in upcoming firmware versions for both the GE800 and BE800 models:

  1. SNMP Support
    These are not budget devices, and many users – including advanced home users and professionals – would greatly benefit from the ability to monitor device status and performance using SNMP.

  2. More SFP Module Information
    The SFP+ port is a fantastic addition, but currently, the details about the inserted module are limited. Please consider expanding the information available, such as module type, vendor, signal strength, and operational status.

  3. Custom SSL Certificate Support
    Allowing users to upload their own SSL certificate (instead of using an automatically generated self-signed certificate) would improve security and trust, especially when accessing the router's interface remotely.

Thank you for your hard work and for considering these suggestions. Your continued development of these routers is highly appreciated.

Please add SQM codel in future to reduce bufferbloat, upload saturation that negatively affects online gaming when another device on the network downloads data. Thanks

  @Kevin_Z This is probably a dumb question but I figured I'd ask anyway: Does anyone know how long TPLink usually takes from pre-release firmware -> final version? I just ordered an GE800 and I'd ideally like to update firmware prior to setting this thing up..

Kevin there is one unsolved problem regarding DoT/DoH on all BE8XX BE5XX and also on GE series.

The Limitation on service choices to Predefined list of DoH .

 

This is very frustrating , i dont want to use adguard dns , nor cloudflare dns , nor quad9 nor openDNS.

 

 

 

I want to use my own DoH service but sadly it is not detected nor accepted as you can see in below picture:
