Model: ER7412-M2
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have setup an openvpn connection via a modem (Set DMZ to ER7412) to the ER7412-M2 and I can reach the ER7412-M2 config page fine at 172.16.8.1, but i can't reach any of the other hosts with a ping. All firewalls are disabled and on the lan the 172.16.8.79 can ping fine to all ip's and vice versa.

It looks like i'm missing a routing option for the hosts to be reachable over the openvpn connection. I can't find an option like "Allow VPN clients to access LAN" as ChatGpt suggested. Can anyone help me further with this?

LAN router: 172.16.8.1    255.255.0.0

I have created a diagram that makes it a bit clear hopefully. Please note I used a Tp-link 4G router with the public IP. If you need more info please let me know.

Best regards,

Hans

1. If you are setting the subnet that large, the local discovery would take much longer time.

It is not recommended if you want a fast connection.

2. Typo in the screenshot, the local network should be set to the LAN. 172.16.8.0/16

I am not sure what kind of diagram you have. But simply reading this, I don't think you have the proper or correct config.

You don't have the proper VPN settings. Subnets may not be properly set.
You don't have the proper public IP on your WAN.

VPN would not even work in this kind of situation.

If you want the community to help you and give suggestions, please provide specific details. Especially, a diagram.
