Model: Tapo C460 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.8 Build 250715 Rel.66713n

Hi,

I have recently purchased the Tapo C460 Kit, as much as i'm happy with it i've only just noticed that i can't access my camera when i'm away from the house if i try to connect to it using my mobile data, camera shows offline.

I've read multiple online posts about needing to open port 554, i have a tp-link deco setup in my house which i have added a port forwarding entry for port 554 but i still can't access my c460 camera using mobile data when i'm away from my house.

Has anyone experienced the same issue and know how to fix it?

any help would be greatly apprieciated.

Thanks

Owen

Thanks for your reply, I had already rebooted both router and camera, and it never made any difference.

But I rebooted camera and this time it worked.

Prior to this i was on to tplink support who told me to return camera to place of purchase, as it was defective and can't be fixed.

Glad to know your problem has been solved! For your topic, i would like to add some information as it might help other users who encounter similar problems.

  • Tapo devices support remote control by default. You can access and manage them remotely as long as the smart devices are set up properly and connected to the internet.
  • For remote control failure issue, check the Case 2 suggestions in this article. Cannot use the Tapo app to control my smart devices

Hey Owen,

That’s a common issue with the C460. You don’t need to open any ports — it should work through the Tapo cloud. Try rebooting your Deco and camera, make sure both firmware and app are updated, and re-add the camera if it still shows offline. That usually fixes it.
