Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.5.0 Build 20250619

Hi@all!

Yesterday i purchased two 3-packs of Deco X55 units. Everything is fine, up-and running.

Just wanted to configure a VPN-Server for accessing my home network via Android mobile.

The X55 series V1 is supporting Wireguard VPN since months - but my X55 units V3 are not?

Ist there any plan to release a new software with wireguard support for my V3 version?

Would it be possible to buy for example 1 piece of a supported Deco like a new BE25 as a main unit to support wireguard? would this work?

thx 4 your help in advance

chris

Hi, thank you very much for your feedback.

Deco X55_V3 is still planned to add WireGuard VPN, but the ETA is unclear. It is recommended to pay attention to the firmware release notes on the official website as well as firmware notifications on the Deco App.

By the way, adding a main Deco that supports WireGuard VPN, such as Deco BE25, would allow the whole Mesh network to have the WireGuard VPN functionality.

Best regards.

@David-TP Don't take this the wrong way, but don't go with the "buy a new Wifi 7 BE25 unit (and set it up as the main Deco of your current setup)" option which for the EU market falls again in the same root problem: EU firmwares are from Sept/Aug 2025, while US firmwares are updated more regularly and beta-released.

It's delaying the next firmware release with "new features that in reality it's new features plus bug fixes for non-working features and the universal 'Improved system security and stability' first-line of the changelog" or even wondering if you are considering releasing maintenance firmwares to patch vulnerable common libraries running in any *NIX software architecture.

Honestly, if I need to change the main Deco / router for my local home network, someone might start considering changing to other solutions from other vendors or open hardware projects.

At the end of the day, in these forums you are not going to find most of the clientele who buys COTS equipment at non-specialized distributors looking for plug-and-play solutions in a regular domestic network topology. We are nerds and geeks trying to configure something "advanced" to get better network performance or network services that I would have years ago mounted on an old workstation running some debian distro, later a raspberry with raspbian and tired of losing the smarthome, or the DLNA media server, or the music server, decided to get your all-in-one mesh solution instead of my ISP wifi mesh product which is even worse.

Once you lose the nerds, your solutions won't differentiate from anything sold in Alliexpress in terms of quality and reliability and will be replaced by a clone of a clone of an open-hardware project running openWRT with a skin.
