Model: TC70
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I tried to connect to my TC 70 cam by RTSP on my PC but failed. I followed all related instruction incl.:

 - Making a camera account (without special characters) in my mobile phone TAPO app

 - Reading the IP from the router

 - Entering

rtsp://<IP>:554/stream1 in VLC (as instructed on the TAPO homepage)

rstp://<usr-cam-account>:<pw-cam-account>@<IP>:554/stream1 in VLC as expected by me

... with following error message (translated to English):

VLC cannot open the media address 'rtsp://<user>:<pw>i@192.168.123.160:554/stream1' . For details check the error protokoll.

The error protocoll in VLC is extremely irritating. Beside a lot of unrelated stuff I found for example:

...

main debug: net: connecting to 192.168.123.160 port 554

main debug: connection succeeded (socket = 37)

access_realrtsp warning: Cseq mismatch, got 1, assumed 0

access_realrtsp debug: rtsp connected

access_realrtsp warning: only real/helix rtsp servers supported for now

main debug: no access modules matched

main debug: dead input

main debug: changing item without a request (current 1/2)

main debug: nothing to play

qt debug: IM: Deleting the input

..

I used VLC 3.0.20 on Linux Mint 22. I am not a IT beginner and never had any issues with IP cams and VLC.

Any Idea what could help?

Best regards

Claus

Hi,
You can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot if you fail to establish an RTSP/Onvif connection.
What can I do if fail to stream the Tapo camera via the RTSP/ONVIF protocol?

If the same phenomenon persists, please confirm the following information.
  1. Please go to the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Device Info page to check its hardware and firmware version.

  2. Have you subscribed to the Tapo Care service? Is there an SD card inserted into the camera for video storage?

  3. How many devices are streaming the camera's live feed simultaneously? Via the Tapo app or a third-party app?

  4. Please try to stream the camera with another third-party app or on a different device, such as using Agent DVR on a Windows PC, and check if the RTSP/Onvif connection can be established successfully. (How to View Tapo Camera on PC, NAS, or NVR Using RTSP/ONVIF)

Best Regards
