Hi all, any help or advice would be appreciated having wifi issues with a laptop wifi is not stable and impacting my work Teams calls, Any advice, things to check, setting tweaks etc

Setup:

  • Location: South East London
  • Property: Semi-detached house
  • ISP: EE
I was using EE ISP whole home mesh setup but wanted to replace it with a better product so bought the Deco BE65
  • System: TP-Link Deco BE65 (triple pack / 3 nodes)
  • Main node configured as router (ISP router removed)
  • Main node connected via Ethernet to BT ONT

Network details:

  • Was unable to get Sky boxes connected they kept dropping which I is a known issue so they are now connected to TP Link powerline adapters (seems stable now)
  • Laptop: Dell Latitude 5450
  • Laptop distance to nearest node: ~20 feet
  • Node placement checked with WiFi analyser app
  • Signal between nodes: around -20 dBm

Issue:

  • Laptop WiFi connection is inconsistent
  • Signal in Deco app fluctuates (full bars → drops intermittently)
  • Microsoft Teams calls perform poorly
  • laptop stays in my office and does not roam around house

Troubleshooting already tried:

  • Initially connected via 6 GHz
  • Switched to 5 GHz
  • Turned mesh off for the device
  • Forced connection to nearest node
  • Issue still persists
  • Run networm optimiser in the deco app to try different channels

Hi,
A new firmware version (v1.3.2) is available for the Deco BE65 V2. If you do not see the new firmware on the Deco app > More > System > Update Deco page, please download and manually update Deco's firmware from the link below, then test if it helps.
Deco BE65/BE63/BE11000_V2_1.3.0 Added DoH & DoT, Speed Limit and Internet Backup
Best Regards
