Hi all, any help or advice would be appreciated having wifi issues with a laptop wifi is not stable and impacting my work Teams calls, Any advice, things to check, setting tweaks etc
Setup:
- Location: South East London
- Property: Semi-detached house
- ISP: EE
I was using EE ISP whole home mesh setup but wanted to replace it with a better product so bought the Deco BE65 - System: TP-Link Deco BE65 (triple pack / 3 nodes)
- Main node configured as router (ISP router removed)
- Main node connected via Ethernet to BT ONT
Network details:
- Was unable to get Sky boxes connected they kept dropping which I is a known issue so they are now connected to TP Link powerline adapters (seems stable now)
- Laptop: Dell Latitude 5450
- Laptop distance to nearest node: ~20 feet
- Node placement checked with WiFi analyser app
- Signal between nodes: around -20 dBm
Issue:
- Laptop WiFi connection is inconsistent
- Signal in Deco app fluctuates (full bars → drops intermittently)
- Microsoft Teams calls perform poorly
- laptop stays in my office and does not roam around house
Troubleshooting already tried:
- Initially connected via 6 GHz
- Switched to 5 GHz
- Turned mesh off for the device
- Forced connection to nearest node
- Issue still persists
- Run networm optimiser in the deco app to try different channels
