Model: Adapter
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.0.1

I purchased a RE450, when it is connected to the 5G network of the router after a few minutes the internet stops working. I don't poodle the router, the connection LEDs are on and the signal is good. I also tried to reset it but nothing changes. Occurs only with the 5G network. thanks.

@esJani

Good day.

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

May I know the model number of your home router?

When the 5Ghz disconnected, would the 5Ghz light still lit up?

And when you connected to the 5ghz when it loses the connection, what would be the IP address and default gateway on the device?

Thank you very much.

@Pol88

Please give me the below details so that we can do more troubleshooting.

a. What's the 5GHz LED of the RE450 when the extender stops working? Can you get internet from it by wired cable and 2.4GHz at that time?

b. How often it drops connection, and can you see the extender's 5GHz wifi at that time? Or it is still connected but no internet?

c. Please connect your computer to the RE450 directly when the connections drop out. And please check the IP address, default gateway and DNS server as the below instruction.
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/
Note: Please show me the screenshot of the status-details page.

d. At that time, please connect your computer to the main router directly and test the IP, default gateway and DNS too.
Note: Please show me the screenshot of the status-details page.

e. How far away between the extender and main router And what's the wifi signal strength?

f. Try to change some wireless settings of the main router, like wireless channel(channel 36, 40 and 44), channel width (40MHz); and please ensure that the firmware is up to date.

Thanks in advance, and have a good day.

@Kevin_Z

a. 5G led still on. No internet by etherneth port and extender's wifi, but 2,4 and wired yes.

b. I see extender's 5G wifi, still connected but no internet.

c. My pc still have correct ip, gateway and dns.

d. Router's ip config and gateway is all default from ISP.

e. The distance from the router is about 7-8m and no walls, signal is good.

f. 5G channel is 36, channel width 20-40-80MHz.

Thanks for your valued reply. I'm a little confused about the first answer-- No internet by etherneth port and extender's wifi, but 2,4 and wired yes.; do you mean you cannot get internet from the RE450 by 5GHz and wired cable, but the 2.4GHz works fine? or both wired and 2.4GHz of RE450 work well, but 5GHz does not?

Use different wireless channel for 5GHz, like channel 40, 44, 100 or so, and change the channel width to 5GHz.

Besides, do you connect the RE450 to the main router by 5GHz only or both wifi frequencies(2.4GHz and 5GHz)?

Please ensure that the firmware of the RE450 is up to date.

One more thing, when and where did you buy this RE450?

Yes I mean: repeater's 5G and wired internet loss (led ok), but repeater's 2,4 and wired internet always ok. RE450 connectedd to the router with both wifi frequencies but i tryed to connects it by 5G only. I tryed changing channel and width but nothing change. The Extender's firmware is up to date. I bought it on amazon.

@Pol88 So what's the outcome? Having the same..
Every single day 5GHz drops, all LEDs are OK, the signal is good, Android App and Web Interface showing everything is correct but no internat using 5GHz extended SSID, the original 5GHz on my router works perfectly at the same time. So, definitely something with TP Link RE450 (EUROPE).

Every day I reboot it to make it work. The channel is fixed at 44, the same happened with Auro (excluding DFS) and with all recommended channels.
I am a bit tired rebooting it every day because I need 5GHz, this is the reason why I bought it, otherwise need to use some better models from other manufactures.

Any advise?

The Re450 is placed on the table in front of me.Before I power on the repeater, I am getting 300mbs download & 280mbs upload on my handphone.Next I power on the repeater, I get 142 mbs download & 135 mbs upload.The router is 6meter away.Most of the time,I did not used it for the past 3 years because of many problems.

@Pol88 I just bought this device two days back and I'm facing this issue too. Router's 5GHz and 2.4GHz are up and running always. But the TP Link loses the 5Ghz band completely sometimes and the led for 5GHz doesn't light up. Sometimes its just the internet that's not working(meaning I get the 5GHz signal, but no internet). In both scenarios, my routers 2.4GHz and 5GHz works fine with internet working in both.

I tried resetting it and upgrading the firmware(where the new version was the same one that was on my device - But did it any way for piece of mind). It still didn't help. Not sure if TP-Link has addressed this or if they're working on a fix already. If not, I will need to return this device. One good thing I liked about this device is that if I set up the device using WPS, it extends my router's network as one wifi. Similar to a mesh concept I believe. But the internet was too unreliable on this mode. So, I had to set it up the traditional way of having an extended network and a original network.

If anyone's facing this issue and have successfully fixed it, please let me know. With this work from home scenario, the dependency on this router is more than ever :)

Facing exact same issue with RE450. After restart 5G works for few hours then data transfer stops completely. No problem with 2.4Ghz. Anyone knows solution for it, else would be returning it back.
