Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.4

Hi,

I have an issue whereby my deco M5 cannot seem to find my phillips hue hub.

The hue hub is directly cabled to one of the ports of the Deco, but when I use the deco App to add a 'Smart Device' it searches and then comes back with "No Device Found".

The hue hub and deco are functioning separately OK.

The Deco is in Access Point mode.

Is there anything else I can try? I'd like to play with the automation features.

Thanks

Andy

@TP-Link_Deco

Sorry for the delay.

Current firmware of the deco's is 1.4.7 build 20200725 Rel 63377 and the deco app is up-to-date. I did not try all the options you mentioned, but it looks like the Hue bridge and bulbs are recognized with the current version. I will try to configure them soon and check if it all works well.

I assume it will work now. If not, I will let you know.

Kinds regards

@beardhunter

Hi, If you still failed to add Philips Hue bridges as the smart devices when Deco M9 plus/Deco M5 is on the access point mode, please try to update the following firmware:

please feel free to update here with further improvements.

Thank you very much.

Hello Andy, with Philips Hue bridge connected to the Deco by wired cable, does it obtain valid IP address and gateway?

Try to ping the LAN IP of the connected Deco and show us the results.

Besides, have you ever tried to switch the operation mode to router mode yet?

Good day.

@Kevin_Z The hue gets a valid IP and gateway. The hue is working fine by itself so I know its on my network OK

Ping from my laptop towards the LAN IP of my deco (I can't initiate a ping from the hue hub itself):-

C:\>ping 192.168.0.48

Pinging 192.168.0.48 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.0.48: bytes=32 time=10ms TTL=255
Reply from 192.168.0.48: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=255
Reply from 192.168.0.48: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=255

I do not want to put my Deco system in Router mode - any other ideas?

Thanks

Andy

Hello Andy, thanks for your valued reply.

I confirmed the datasheet again and the Deco M5 does not support add Philips Hue as smart home device yet, it applies to Deco M9 plus only.

That is the reason shy it shows no device found; in other word, it cannot satisfy your needs yet.

@Kevin_Z Thanks for looking into it further and providing more info.

A previous firmware version states that phillips hue is supported for the M5:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/164802

Can you explain in a bit more detail what is supported on the M5 with regards to phillips hue?

Many thanks

Andy

@StefanH_81  @MonZ

Hello,

Could you please check some basic info and we will try to figure it out:

1. Ensure the Deco M5 firmware is up-to-date, which should be 1.4.4 Build 20200221. If not, update the firmware first on the Deco app.

2. Ensure the Deco app is the latest as well.

3. Connect the Phillips Hue bridge/hub to the Deco M5 with an Ethernet cable and ensure the connection is good, it is suggested to confirm the IP address on the Phillips Hue bridge/hub for sure.

4. Try to restart the Phillips Hue bridge/hub, unplug and then re-plug the bulb.

5. Reset the bulb and re-add it to the hue bridge/hub.

6. If there is still no success, please show us the error screenshot on the Deco app or on your Hue app and provide the model number of your Hue bulb or device.

Thanks.
