Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20190620 Rel. 45372

Hi

I've been using Deco M4 since 5 months.

The setup was:

Broadband modem ==> Deco M4 1st unit ==> Deco M4 2nd unit.

Earlier my broadband was only 100Mbps and later I've upgraded it to 200Mbps.

My broadband modem and Deco M4 1st unit is connected using a Cat 6 ethernet cable. But still the maximum speed I'm receiving is capped at 100Mbps via Deco.

When I directly connect to my broadband modem then I'm receiving speeds upto 200Mbps.

Followed the troubleshooting steps on Deco but it didn't help!

Thanks

@Himanshu_IN the QoS in the Deco app was set at 100Mbps. Increasing that to 1000Mbps helped fix the issue.

@PavanKumar

Hello, may I know what kind of troubleshooting you have done already? Below we list some information we need to narrow down this issue and fix it.

1. With a computer connected to the main Deco by wired cable directly, what is the speed you can get from it? Please check the wireless speed you can get from the main Deco as well with slave Deco powered off.

2. At the same, please check the wired/wireless negotiation speed of your device. You can refer to https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/

3. What is the current operation mode of your Deco M4?

4. Try to swap the locations of the Decos or switch the slave Deco to main Deco to give it a shot. Below is the instruction:

Good day.

@Kevin_Z

1. With a computer connected to the main Deco by wired cable directly, what is the speed you can get from it? Please check the wireless speed you can get from the main Deco as well with slave Deco powered off.

Wired to main deco - 100 Mbps

Wireless to main deco with slave powered off - 100 Mbps

2. At the same, please check the wired/wireless negotiation speed of your device. You can refer to https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/

Please find attached the screenshots of the Ethernet and Wifi speed which is 1Gbps and 433.3Mbps respectively.

3. What is the current operation mode of your Deco M4?

Dynamic IP

4. Try to swap the locations of the Decos or switch the slave Deco to main Deco to give it a shot. Below is the instruction:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2400/

Swapped the main deco with slave deco and repeated step 1 to test the speeds. It's still the same with maximum at 100Mbps.

@PavanKumar

Thanks for your valued reply. Cause the speed gets stuck at 100Mbps and cannot be fixed via the troubleshooting methods we have done.

To help you figure it out, our engineer will email you later and try to do further analysis to find a solution.

Please check your inbox and get in touch with our engineer.

Good day.

@PavanKumar I found that turning off the second deco(pulling the plug) for 5 minutes works... Now I get more than 100 mbps

Pavan , i was going bat crazy, never crossed my mind to check QoS, apparently if you set a device with high priority the Deco sets itself to 100 Mb.

@Florin84 Main deco rebooted after disconnecting the other 2 slaves, wifi speeds returned to normal 400 Mb (QoS) was enabled on 2 devices before, i deleted them ).i reconnected the slaves i get the usual 79- 90 fluctuating wifi speeds (the slaves are connected wirelessly not cabled). It seams the QoS somehow was stuck on all slaves (i fell the option propagates from the main to slaves and only fixed by disconnecting all slaves and rebooting main).

@PavanKumar i have this exact issue , thought it was odd my pc ran faster download speeds on wireless than wired. I have set me qos to 1000 down and 1000up and it still is capped at 100mbps wired to my pc. i also tried this with my pc set to high priority and also not high priority and neither worked.
