Implemented No openvpn client option on Archer AX11000?
Hello,
just found out that my newly bought Archer AX11000 router does not have an option to setup an openvpn client to ExpressVPN.
What a huge dissapointment.
My previous router was een Assus and with this router (I think with every Assus router ) it was possible to do so, but it was 2,5 years old so not powerfull enough to have a vpn tunnel fast enough.
That is why I bought this router for 373 euros, approx $400!
Of course you can say, if I informed myself good enough I would have known.
But unfortunatly I didn't. Well, at least not enough.
So my request to TP-Link is, can you please produce a firmware update which add this openvpn client option!
If this will not happen I'm forced to sell this router with a loss and buy an Assus router again and never switch to another brand again!
Please, please, please
Thank you
Sincerely,
Lex

Hi, Lex, the Archer AX11000 supports OpenVPN server only now, while we have noted your request to add the OpenVPN client function, and we will keep an eye on similar feedback and forward it to our product department.
Good day.

I got the same router, however, i knew, before i bought this one, that openvpn client is not supported on this device.
So my humble question is like TS did. Any plans to for a openvpn client in a future firmware?

Hello, thanks for bringing this up again.
TP-Link home products currently don't support the VPN client settings, they only work as VPN servers (OpenVPN and PPTP). All of them also operate by default as VPN passthrough using IPSec, PPTP or L2TP. All you have to do is have the client software installed on the client devices and the VPN be based in one of the 3 mentioned protocols.
We do receive some other customer feedback that they wish we will support VPN client on the home routers, we have feedback all these requests to the related department, they will take this into serious consideration and will evaluate if we can add the support for it. While as for now, the AX11000 doesn't have that VPN client feature, and we have no ETA for the new firmware either, we hope our customer pay attention to the new firmware release in the future by themselves.
Thanks a lot.

Archer AX11000
Please add me to the growing list of AX11000 owners who want to have the ability to install ExpressVPN (or similar application), on my router and protect everything connected to my network.

Please add this feature, in 2020 an expensive router like this one that doesn't support this feature which a router less $100 does is non-understandable.
Thanks for analyzing with your team how to fix it soon as many users request this!

Hello,
Are there any plans for adding OpenVPN Client support anytime soon?
Because I still have the option to return it and exchange it for another one.
Regards
