Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.4.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 200227 RC.63688n

Every few days or so, the 5Ghz network stops working on my Archer VR2800 for all my 5GHz devices. Devices appear to be connected, but there is no data throughput at all. The only way to get it back working is to reboot the router.

Devices on the 2.4GHz network are unaffected. If I connect to the web interface via a device on the 2.4Ghz, I can see no errors shown in the log (log level is set to All and Debug) and the modem thinks the 5GHz network is working fine.

After a reboot, everything comes up fine for another few days. I highly doubt this is wi-fi interference, as upon reboot all the 5GHz network settings (channel, width etc.) are the same as when it stopped working.

This really is a poor piece of kit. No wonder TP-Link included the option to schedule a restart on it.

To add also -the 5Ghz network stops working for ALL 5Ghz clients, no matter how close I am to the router. My iPhone can be on top of the router and it won't work when the issue arises.

2 weeks since my post, and not one reply from TP-Link support. Terrible customer service.

@DPG1 I am glad you posted this I am getting exactly the same issues. I also have a Deco setup in the mix and that is the same on 5ghz. Power cycling doesn't even help and  2.4ghz is fine. I read some where there's a beta firmware. Good luck 👍🏻

@DPG1 Same for me, still an issue every week, 8 months on. I'm on an older firmware release than you but it still says it is up to date when I check  0.3.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 170809 Rel.42095n. I bought this as my old free ISP router was so poor but it seems spending more doesn't mean a better product

@DPG1 Same problem here, purchased to replace my ISP device that was on its last legs.

5GHz locks up every day or so and is only fixed by rebooting the expensive device, on the verge of returning for a refund and leaving a 1 Star review on Amazon.

I would suggest you log a case with TP Link support.  I did that and they came back to me really quickly with a firmware update.  I tried that but it didn't work with my ISP (plusnet) for some reason, so I rolled back, and they came up with another version within a few days that I have installed and seem to be OK.  Only time will tell if it fixes the 5GHz issue though.

Unfortunately for me, the 201103 version caused my router to crash after 2-3 days, so I have had to revert to 200227.

Support are suggesting this is a hardware fault so I would be interested if anyone else has problems with that version.
