Hello, as confirmed with the related department, there is no plan to support Onemesh on the VR2800, you may replace it with a VR2100, which supports Onemesh already.

BTW, this is the Onemesh compatibility list: https://www.tp-link.com/onemesh/product-list/.

@Dreamcast

Hello, thanks for your suggestion.

This has been forwarded to the product team, they will evaluate the feasibility, while we cannot give you an answer at the moment, it is suggested to keep an eye on the official website once there are any updates:

This is disappointing.  Having purchased what I believed to be a quality product, the suggestion is to downgrade to obtain OneMesh. Why?  I don't understand why a supposedly superior product is being ignored.

Various comments about the inferior VR2100 chipset advise against it if you are at 1km distance from your local cabinet.

So it seems my options are to suffer or change to another brand.

This is not only disappointing, this is a slap in the face for all owners of a VR2800.

And being told to just downgrade and buy another (and less potent) router is ridiculous.

But hey, so I take you advice an buy another router. But from a company that knows how to deal with customers.

@Krooms

We hope we could answer this better, while there is no plan for Onemesh feature on the VR2800, so sorry about that.

@Kevin_Z

Having recently purchased a VR2800 thinking I was buying the top ASDL Modem/Router it's beyond disappointing that it is not getting one mesh firmware and the suggested action is to buy another TP Link model with lesser capabilities. Are you happy that is a solution? My solution is provide one mesh for your top product. If not, my other solution is I won't buy TP Link next time I upgrade.

@Kevin_Z ,

Are there good reasons why mesh cannot be made to work with the VR2800? As others have said it’s disappointing a quality router is not compatible but a lesser model is.

You can’t seriously expect loyal customers to sell the 2800 and take a hit then buy a lesser model. It keeps TP-Link happy of course with the extra revenue but that’s assuming they buy another TP-Link router. They may decide to go to your competitors. And who could blame them? ☹️

I suggest you get your act together.

This is a speech that was already made when we were informed that the 166Mhz bandwidth would not be implemented, and therefore neither the total speed of 2167Kbp / s on 5 Ghz. which together with 600Kbp / s would have led to a total of about 2800Kbp / s, so the much vaunted and advertised VR2800, in reality, has become a very normal Modem / Router with 1733 speed on 5 Ghz and 600 on 2400 frequency, at least to compensate for this "distortion" with the implementation of the Mesh, but even this did not help, at least on this apparatus the customers were treated as emeritus idiots, but they (Tp-link!) do not seem to care a lot, and this has been widely documented for some time now also with other devices with various types of malfunctions that were fixed when they were out of production, that is years! Just to tell the latest, in Italy we still have a version of the VR2800v still in beta of 2019 on the site, it has not even received the CWE security patches, and it is not known when there will be a stable and usable firmware with the functions of interest. , if we put the UK or Australian firmware the modem worsens more in its performance, so much so that the assistance service asks you to downgrade, the QOS and the DDOS are unusable, other functions we do not talk about, in fact I am using the modem of mine provider that in terms of functions and very poor, but at least it is stable and works well and I have not paid for it, in principle like the VR2800v, it has many functions but it is as if it had not seen them that only some are really usable .... But CEO of Tp-Link aren't you ashamed not even a little bit ashamed? who knows, maybe if we complain about how we are treated to Chinese President Xi-Jinping, it will be the right time for him to put his head right (or even out of place!)?
