Deco P7 shown as "low-security WiFi" on latest iOS 14 Beta
Hello!
I own a Deco P7 Mesh network with the latest Firmware update.
Also I am currently testing the latest Apple iOS version 14 (currently in public beta).
My iPhone 11 shows my Deco P7 WiFi network as "low security risk" because of it's WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) encryption.
Also iOS tells me to switch to WPA2 (AES) or even WPA3.
Problem: There is no such option in the Deco app available.
Can anybody confirm this issue?
Kind regards
Andreas

Hello all, thanks very much for your patiently waiting and support.
Our developers recently have provided a beta firmware for the Deco devices, which allows you to change the wireless security type for your Deco network, here is the download link if you are willing to update it:
https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/227662
Note: Ensure you are running the latest Deco app on your phone first, Android version 2.2.1, and iOS 2.2.2.
Let the community know if you have any inquiries, thanks a lot~

Hi,
There is currently no way to fix the security to WPA2 or AES only on the Deco device. Sorry about that.
With security in mind and we do get some other customers' feedback, this would be an important feature to have. This will be forwarded as a feature request to our developers for consideration with the highest priority and we will soon release new firmware to support this in the near future.
Good day.

Thank you, but please can you forward this issue to your software department, so they can provide a fix/firmware update soon for all relevant Deco devices.
TKIP is "in fact" a security issue, not only with the forthcoming iOS 14!

Totally agree with you and this has been forwarded to the developers, they are working on the new firmware, which will support changing the security type on the Deco app.
Please keep an eye on the Deco app for new firmware in the near future, thanks.

@TP-Link_Deco I'm having the same issue with the P7 network. I wasn't aware of this problem until one iOS device alerted about it, and there is nothing we can do at the moment. In previous posts, TP Link support states that devices negotiate automatically the highest security level supported, but it's not the case with every device I tried, so add another client with this issue.
I'll be waiting for a fix, thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for asking again.
Yes, the new firmware which will allow users to change the wireless security type on the Deco network will be released on a rolling basis, and new features will be added via the firmware upgrade.
Please kindly wait for the new firmware in the near future, thanks a lot.

Today firmware 1.4.7 showed up on my Deco P7.
But no visible changes in settings or security.
Still WPA2 TKIP and low security... and iOS 14 is around the corner 🤭

Hi, the feature to change the wireless security type is not available on the newly released 1.4.7 version, and it could be added on the later 1.5.0 version, please kindly wait for weeks.
Thanks a lot again for your patience.

Hello,
Do you mean the Ethernet backhaul on your Deco P7 system is failed after upgrading to the latest 1.4.7 version? Can I confirm some details with you first to help locate the issue?
1. What is the current network topology/diagram? How many Deco P7s do you have in total and how are they connected?
2. Is there a switch in the Deco network? What if you remove the switch temporarily from the network and connect the Deco P7 together, will they be able to build up the Ethernet backhaul?
3. Try to restart all the Deco P7 nodes and refresh your Deco app, confirm again if the Ethernet backhaul shows a connection.
4. Try to reset the Deco P7 to factory defaults and reconfigure it from scratch, then confirm again if they can build up the Ethernet backhaul when adding the switch back into the network.
You may confirm this by clicking the Internet icon on your Deco app (ensure it is the latest version)->tap the satellite Deco, then you will see the satellite Deco’s signal source. For more details, you may refer to the below FAQ:

i downgraded the decos manually to 1.4.2.
the main deco had suddenly fw 1.1.1!
as 1.1.1. doesn't have a web gui to update the main deco again I needed to update with the app to 1.4.7. now everything is working again.
i am now waiting for the "new" features eg WiFi channel, security,....
