TP-LINK RE650 / TKIP - AES ISSUE STILL UNRESOLVED !
HAVE SEEN SEVERAL ANSWERS TO THE DANGEROUS USE OF TKIP VS AES ASKED BY SEVERAL USERS, YET NO ONE AT TP LINK HAS YET ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WITH *** CLEAR AND CONCISE STEPS *** TO DISABLE TKIP AND ONLY ALLOW AES ENCRYPTION....
STOP TRYING TO BLAME USERS ROUTERS !! IT IS THE COMPLETE LACK OF CLEAR SECURITY OPTIONS ON TP LINK EXTENDERS THAT IS CAUSING THIS SERIOUS ISSUE, AND WE DEMAND YOU ISSUE A FIRMWARE UPDATE ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE ASAP, OR OFFER CLEAR AND CONSIDER INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DISABLE TKIP AND ENABLE AES ON THE EXISTING LATEST FIRMWARE ASAP !!!! THANK YOU.

Thank you very much for all your concern.
Our developer has built a beta firmware for RE650 v1: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202010/20201012/re650v1_en-up-ver1-0-8-P1[20200922-rel60445].zip
But please be aware that this beta firmware is a specially built version for RE650 v1 with unknown issues existed;
Please feel free to update here with further improvement!
And the official firmware would be released very soon!

I have same TKIP weak security issue with RE500.
Can you post the link for the firmware that fixes this issue ?
Very disappinted with Tp-link product, I feel they are scamming customers.

I also have exactly the same issue. I received a new RE650 AC2600 yesterday and upon connection directly to my broadband router, the RE650 shows 'weak security' via my iOS 14 device. I raised a query with 'Live Chat' yesterday and was cut off after realizing that the Technical Support had no way of helping me at all. The suggested changes provided via TP Link are not available via the RE650 drop down list. Whe I connect directly to my broadband router wirelessly via my iOS 14 iPhone I do not get a 'weak security' message. Also this is not an issue with the main broadband ISP router, it is not an issue with the iOS 14 iPhone either, and updating the iOS 14 iPhone to the latest software (mine currently @ 14.2.1) does not fix the issue either. There is a problem with the RE650 and TP Link needs to fix it - urgently.

RE650 does not have the weak security issue anymore.
And the official firmware has been released to fix this issue already:

Release Note:
1. Fixed some bugs
2. Optimized the performance of the RE650
3. Optimized the security performance(WPA2/AES)
Note: for RE650(EU) 1.0
Please make sure you have done the following trouble shooting:
1.Fix the encryption mode of the home router to AES only
2.Update the firmware to be the latest;
3.Reset RE650 and set it up again via web UI not Tether APP;
4.Deletet the previous Wi-Fi profile for RE650 and research the Wi-Fi and connect again;

as you know RE500 is having same issues as RE650
can I get the firmware for RE500 that fixes Tkip weak security?

Sorry, I knew I forgot something but I just could not recall what it was.
Now I see what it is and thank you for your notice.
As for the RE500, I checked with the senior engineer yesterday but they did not come back to me.
Please spare for a moment and I would update it here later.

Dear TP Link, I've updated the firmware with the version you suggested and it has removed the 'weak security' error on my iOS 14 iPhone device. I didnt need to do anything else, the firmward upgrade has removed this error when connecting to the RE650.

I need firmware update for RE500 range extender as it's got same weak security issue as other tp-link extenders.

@TP-Link Why do you have to find this firmware update on the forum and is this not in the section firmware update section downloads (https://www.tp-link.com/nl-be/support/download/re650/#Firmware). BAD SUPPORT OF TP-LINK this was a security problem!!!!
