Model: Archer T4U
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Hello everyone!

I recently purchased an Archer T4U. My wifi is split between 2.4GHz and 5GHz. My 2.4GHz works fine, although sometimes has periods of unstable wifi. My problem is that on the 5GHz frequency my wifi is great, but every 8-10 seconds it spikes to 3000+ or times out. This only happens for one line then goes back to normal and the cycle repeats over and over.

I have run the following command to receieve this information: ping www.google.com -t

I notice the same ping spikes when playing video games and no one else in my house has this exact problem. Everyone else gets consistently good wifi. I have tried the following solutions:

-Uninstalling my network adapter and re-downloading the drivers

-The following commands:

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
NETSH winsock reset catalog
NETSH int ipv4 reset reset.log
NETSH int ipv6 reset reset.log

(Followed by a restart)

-Following commands:(Enter after each, followed by a restart)

netsh int ip reset reset.txt
netsh winsock reset
netsh advfirewall reset

Can anyone help me? I don't want to resort to wiping my PC but I will if this continues.

Nick.

@Switer Hello,

If your router is Archer C6, please upgrade the Beta firmware provided by @Kevin_Z  for C6 and turn off the OneMesh feature in the post blow(marked as recommended solution)  , that helps with the high ping issue on Archer T3U/T4U :

Hello everyone,

here is a summary suggestions in this thread.

Here is the latest chipset driver for some USB adapter, please give it a try first :

Realtek Chipset Driver for Archer T2U(Nano/ Pus)/T3U(Nano/ Plus)/T4U(Plus)/T4UH/T9UH (Win7/Win10)

For the wireless adapter high ping concern, here provides some nice tips for troubleshooting:

[Troubleshooting] How to Fix High Ping when Using Wireless Adapter?

If router is TP-Link Archer C6 and adapter has high ping,  try to update the firmware we provided in the following thread, then disable the Onemesh feature on the router to see if that helps, [Solution] Disable Onemesh Hidden network

Hello, This driver says it's for T3U? Nick.

Also, should I extract the file and how should I download it? Do you have a guide for me?

Please confirm the following steps:

-Uninstall my current T4U driver.

-Extract the driver files.

-Run "Autorun" in "ArcherT3U_beta_unstable_issue"

-Follow on-screen instructions.

Nick.

@boiledchicken1

 Hi Nick,

Yes the above driver named " T3U_Beta_unstable _issue " works for both T3U and T4U.

Here is the detailed instruction:

- Click the link and download beta driver first : https://static.tp-link.com/beta/2021/202102/20210223/ArcherT3U_beta_unstable_issue.zip

- Put Zip file on Desktop, extract the driver files

- Uninstall old T4U adapter from Device manager -> Network adapter : https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/284/

- Run "Autorun.exe" in "ArcherT3U_beta_unstable_issue"

- Follow on-screen instructions.

@Solla-topee

Hello,
i do not want to create new topic, because I have the same problem. I have spikes every 15s to 3000ms repeatedly. I tried to resolve it through whole day, but nothing does not work. 2.4GHz band works fine.

What I tried:
1. Your linked beta drivers,
2. Reinstalled the newest official drivers,
3. Trying ' netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="Wireless Network Connection" command, which is recommend method in whole internet, anyway does not work at all with my adapter. Network is not visible after reconnecting computer and doing it either without restart the computer, adapter still has ping spikes.
4. Updating Windows to the newest version (20H2)
5. Changing USB port to another 3.0

It is any resolve for this? If not, I will return adapter to the store in Monday because it is annoying a bit, that adapter with dual band supporting, does not work well at 5GHz. It is for sure not the problem of the network, because I tested a some devices on 5GHz network (TV Box, smartphones) and everything works fine. Additionally I bought router TP-Link Archer C6 for that. (same brand).

I have the same exact problem with my Archer 1TU adapter, and have tried the exact same fixes as user Switer. For my it's way more frequent though, every 2 seconds it lags to 3000ms for 2 seconds then back to normal. It's not exactly every 2 seconds, it fluctuates here and there, and on rare occasions it'll work fine for an hour or two. It's a 4 bar connection. I test my phones connection to the same wifi at the same time placed right beside my adapter while my adapter is crapping out like this, and it has no issues. I believe that iscolates the problem to either my adapter or my Windows 10 Home's use of it.

Hello,  @SoDisappointed , did you try 1030.41 chipset driver  (https://static.tp-link.com/beta/2021/202101/20210108/RTLWlanU_WindowsDriver_1030.41.0514.2020_Drv_3.00.0036(26078).zip) but always stuck at 90%? You could try to reinstall the Wi-Fi adapter in Windows safe mode:

How to get into Windows safe mode? https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/791/

Do you have a stable connection when use  tp-link official driver on the website, what is the model of WiFi router and phenomenon? Can I have a photo of the motherboard information and window version, thank you.
