Accepted WAN/LAN auto-sensing

Background:
 There is a typical network topology:

Some users might notice that, once the internet service fails, they are no longer able to access the NAS server from the local network.
The cause of this Phenomenon:
 When internet service went down and the cable modem failed to provide an IP address for Main Deco, both Ethernet ports on the main Deco would work as WAN ports to detect internet connection. NAS would no longer obtain an IP address from Deco.
Why do we use WAN/LAN auto-sensing on Deco?
 For the Deco Mesh system, normally, it would have more than 2 units, and each unit has at least 2 Ethernet ports; It would be time-consuming and confusing to find out which port should be connected to the ISP modem. And supposing that the WAN port is fixed, once this port is broken, the whole Mesh kit would be useless.
Recommended Solutions:
- Given that the issue arises only when the ISP modem fails to assign an IP address for the main Deco, once the cable modem recovers, the problem should be resolved. It is suggested to contact the ISP to restore the modem connection as a priority.
- The current workaround would be connecting the wired servers to the satellite Deco units instead of the main one.
- And we have also implemented enhancements on certain models, ensuring that the WAN port remains constant as long as the physical Ethernet connection between the modem and main Deco is unchanged, even when there is no internet service from the modem. Moreover, it is also planned to support manually fixing a specific Ethernet port as the WAN post on the Deco APP later.
The following models already support fixing the WAN port:

Just lost power due to tornadoes in SE Louisiana. Now due to TP-Link DECO, I've lost LAN connection to home camera system from the auto-sensing feature. I had to go get the satellite deco and bring it right next to the primary DECO unit and connect my cameras to it losing the WiFi for the other half of the house after learning through this thread.
How can a user during a weather emergency maintain their LAN connections when their ISP is severed from natural disasters? Please elevate the demand for dedicating a WAN port on the main DECO unit, and the rest LAN! This is vital to keeping watch on generators running that are a high target for theft! Looting is prevalent during hurricanes and cameras on LAN can alert home owners before trouble strikes!

@TP-Link Please fix this.
I have configuration: Internet --wire--> M5 --wire--> switch --wire--> M5
PLEASE ALLOW US TO SET A FIXED WAN PORT. Make that option Advanced if you want. But it's really unacceptable to lose LAN connectivity when internet goes down, it just doesn't make any sense.

@TP-Link I've wasted so much of my time trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong until I can across this thread. Countless hours. Actively making sure nobody I know ever buys a tp-link product again. I have the most up to date firmware and this is still an issue. Currently looking for a good new router not made by tplink.

@TP-Link My fiber ONT died while I was out of the country. I expected my cameras to function since it's all static IP addresses and on a local network. Instead, there was no video footage being recorded while I was out of town. One of my properties was burglarized and thank goodness it wasn't the property with the internet outage.
Had this equipment failure from the ISP caused my entire camera and home automation system to not function during a home burglary I would have filed a lawsuit. This is such an unacceptable problem as a thief merely needs to disable the internet to disable an entire security system. The fact that this has been an issue with such a simple solution as to be able to dedicate a WAN port which doesn't affect the LAN. Why doesn't this get done ASAP?

@David-TP if it's supported on Deco X20-4G ... are there any plans on supporting this on the regular Deco X20 ??

Replying to myself as I have found a solution for my version of this issue. When my ISP is down, I change in Deco app the mode it's supposed to function as. (Mine is in Norwegian so unsure what it's in English) . I change from WiFi mode to access point mode. Then I can access my jellyfin server locally.

Hi, yes, It should be and the 1.5.0 firmware on Deco X55/X50_V1 and Deco X80-5G/Deco X20-4G have already supported this feature.
Best regards.
