@Nardol Thank you for the question. I just checked and one of the Deco's was running on a different firmware. Unsure why. I have upgraded it and now everything seems to be working well.

Hello
I installed firmware 1.6.0. So far so good, the sattelite source selection and device/client source connection are great additions we were waiting for since years! Good job!
However these features are still buggy.
1) the device/client source conection doesnt work for devices connected on the guest network, as stated. But why? Many of us connect all IoT device to the Guest network for security reasons, it would be great of we could assign them which Deco they can be connected to as for the rest on the main network.
2) as mentionned by many users on this thread, the feature is still useless as for today. For example I assign my phone to only connect on the 5ghz, but it still connects randomly on rhe 2.4ghz
Btw item #2 seems to be Ok now,
I did not update the firnware or change any setting, seems that a few reboots since a couple of weeks has fixed it

@posta Do you have only M5 in your Deco network?
And do all have 1.6.0 firmware?

@TP-Link I have an issue, I have upgraded the firmware to 1.6.0; however, my app does not provide me with the option to chose which device connects to which Deco. It is running the latest version of the app. Any suggestions?

About the MTU on PPPoE, there is defenatly a change in MTU settings on this beta firmare.
I had this problem with all 1.6.0 firmware, reverting back to 1.5.xx corrected the MTU.
I realized that with beta firmware the IKEv2 VPN was lagging so much that made the connection unusable.
Going back to 1.5.XX IKEV2 was working back to normal.
IKEv2 VPN connections are sensitive in wrong MTU settings.

- Being able to set a preferred node per device is nice, however your language of "preferred" is incorrect. It will ONLY connect ot that node, and appears to be blacklisted on the others. I see that is says that in small print in the app now. It would be nice to have it actually mean "preferred" vs. "dedicated to."
It is a nice idea and I have consulted the engineers so far they haven't answered and I will update later with further improvement.
- I scheduled the auto-reboot last night for the first time at 5am. Upon waking up at 7am, I had no internet. Decos were all had green light, but the system simply had no connection to the internet. I tried to reboot the system using the app, and "something went wrong." I power cycled the main Deco to resolve it. Are there logs I can send you?
As far as I know, 1.6.0 beta hasn't made changes to MTU settings and if you didn't have this issue before, it might not be related to MTU.
And you might need to export the log before manually rebooting the Deco via web UI. I will attach more details later in the email and please wait for a moment.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Thank you for the notification.
These two features: signal source and connection preference will be added to Deco M9 plus and Deco M4 as well, which is one thing for sure. But the uncertainty is about the ETA and so far I haven't got updated news yet.
RobsonT Thanks for your suggestions.
I see you are still on the first version of 1.6.0 beta-20210818 and I wonder whether you have tried the latest 20220307?
The reasons which caused network instability might vary and I see one user is extremely happy with the firmware, while the others complain a lot. so the firmware upgrade will improve the network stability, but not all of them. So normally, we would love to take cases one by one if users would like to cooperate with us for further troubleshooting.
Currently, if you would like to spend a little more time, it would be highly appreciated if you could send an email to support.forum@tp-link.com with some details.
