  @TP-Link

After updating M5 firmware to 1.6.0, main Deco  looses LAN connection every day once, which didn't happen with earlier firmware 1.5.3. Would be nice to get updates without loosing stability.

My main router has following event logs related to this (?).

Sun 07 Aug 2022 20:50:11   Warning (5)   DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response ;CM-MA...
 Sun 07 Aug 2022 20:50:12   Error (4)   Missing BP Configuration Setting TLV Type: 17.8;CM-MAC=24:7f...

  @TP-Link After I updated to 1.6.0 everything worked good except that sometimes a few of my devices would randomly disconnect and resist any attempt to reconnect afterwards, save a full reboot of my main deco.   I figure maybe something was not working quite well with my main deco so I decided to swap it to another one.   As a result of the swap my problems with random disconnects disappear but two of my cameras connected to the original main deco disconnected.  My cameras are Ring Spotlight Wired and never had any issues with them before.

So, this is what I have tried so far:

1. Try to reconnect the cameras per Ring's instructions

2. Factory reset of the cameras per Ring's instructions

3. Reboot of my main deco via the app

4. Reboot all decos via the app

5. Reboot or my main deco and cable modem physically

Now, if I try to set the camera with another internet connection, say my phone hotspot, the cameras immediately connect with no problems so clearly the issue is with the main deco router.

My hypothesis of what is happening is as follows.  Those two cameras were set to connect with the main deco using the new 1.6.0 ability to make devices connect to a particular deco.  I think maybe those two devices got "stuck" to the former main deco on some stubborn addresses table that the reboot is not been able to delete.

So, short of factory reset my decos and starting over from zero (and that would be a veritable nightmare with 12 decos and almost 80 devices) I find no solution so far.  Attached is my network's log which I cleared before making the test trying to connect my camera so that any error should be capture there.  MAC address of the camera I made the test with is F045DA2483ED but I don't find anything related to that particular address in the log.   My technical abilities are not enough as to be able to understand what is going on so I greatly appreciate your help.

Thanks,

  @TP-Link Did the upgrade to 1.6.0 about a week ago. Since then a lot of issues: sudden drops in connectivity. I wish TP-link hadn't released this as a stable build :( I use this professionaly and it't really a big issue not to be able to do decent teams / webex calls ... I wish there was a way to downgrade.

  @TP-Link Since I upgraded to 1.6.0 I have one unit that may have gone bad, I think, unless someone has a suggestion.  It keeps connecting and disconnecting from other units in my network, but always has a green light indicating internet connectivity even if not connected to backhaul via ethernet cable(i.e. completely wirelessly) Says it is disconnected from other Decos, and it is in that state more than a connected state. I have removed it, reset it, and added it to the network again, pushed the 1.6.0 firmware again, and tested it has a separate network router, which appears to work. But as an AP on the network, it does not communicate with the rest of the units, for very long.  Even when I reset it and added it again, it finds the unit quick enough, but I have to keep hitting the retry to add it to the network, it eventually will add it and shows it connected to other units, but then shortly after that goes to the disconnected state.    Any Ideas, or do I have a unit that has just gone bad?  It a version 1.0

  @Silverfox21

Can I have a picture of your network layout, such as?

Here "losing LAN connection randomly", you mean the Ethernet connection on the clients from Deco, right? And would you be able to mark out these Ethernet connections on the layout?

How about the wireless connection?

The logs did not tell anything related and have you noticed any error message on the wired devices, like "identifying/failed to get IP addresses" or something like this?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @Blmontne I had a similar problem, I now have removed my main deco and did a complete reinstall / reconfiguration and now everything seems to be working perfectly. Maybe there is an issue in upgrading and a fresh / clean install solves it ?

  @Ben7878

Hi, welcome to the community.

It would be highly appreciated if you could provide more details about your current issue, such as what are the devices that dropped the connection a lot, and any error messages.

Currently, I only got that "sudden drops in connectivity" and "Teams / webex calls dropped a lot".

Did you have any Lan clients that have configured static IP addresses?

And there is a way to downgrade the firmware back to 1.5.3/1.5.7 and it needs to be done via firmware recovery: How to use firmware recovery

Thank you very much.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @TP-Link It was one unit that the Deco app and when you logged into the main unit via web browser would show as disconnected from the rest of the deco m5's. Didn't matter if it had was Ethernet backhaul or \Wireless backhaul.  So if you tried to reboot all your M5's at once it wouldn't be rebooted because the app doesn't see it as online. Hard rebooting it didn't do anything for it either

I did find a solution, however, though I am monitoring it to see how long it will work.   What I did was find the IP address of the one out M5, and logged into it via a web browser hook up to Ethernet back haul.   I used the Deco M5 app on my iPad and rebooted all the Deco M5's at once and rebooted the one that wouldn't connect to the others at the same time via the login from the web browser. Thus they were all rebooting within a few seconds of each other.   When they all came back online they could all see each other.  It's been that way for about 24hrs now.  I will continue to monitor it.  The Garage Deco M5 was the one losing contact with the rest of the units.  The office and Family room are Ethernet back haul and the garage, Rec room, Rec room Alarm are all wireless back haul.

  @TP-Link

I have the same issues as stated above, my WiFi connection is very unstable and loses connection during the day even though before the update to 1.6.0. I never had any issues like these. All my appliances use WiFi, so I can't say anything about a wired connection.

The instability causes my iPhone and Android tablet not to load pages or chats properly (no images), the same goes for my laptop. Also, using my laptop, MS Teams videocalling has freezed images and sometimes lose audio, or it disconnects my remote desktop even though the VPN I need for that is still active.

What's even more weird, is that only once I had issues like this while using streaming apps on my Samsung TV (after turning off the beamforming the streaming resumed but the issues on my phone, tablet and laptop weren't resolved).

My internet provider doesn't have any issues and all the speed tests (tested on the Deco App) have a great result.

I use the Deco M5's in access point mode, the setup is like this:

Internet (main floor) -> Modem (main floor) -> Main Deco (main floor) -> wired assistent deco (2nd floor) & wireless assistent deco (1st floor)

However, since turning off Smart DHCP it seems to be working better, although I haven't had the time to fully experience this.
