Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0 0.9.1 v009e.0

We're having an issue where the routers connection drops completely to the web, we have hardwired connections that also fail with it, so not a wifi issue, but drop outs last 5-10 minutes and require a restart to fix which sometimes isn't possible. We haven't encountered this issue previously and only recently (in the last couple of weeks) have experienced these dropouts. We also have an Archer Ax10 plugged in as a switch/access point, which seems to work fine when the connection drops, except not being able to connect to the internet. Could be an isp issue, but it's far more likely to simply be a router issue in my experience

  @Cazza

Hey and welcome

Can you confirm your firmware version on the router?  The firmware you listed isnt mentioned on my records, the latest being  Archer VR2100(EU)_V1_210722

If so try updating to the latest firmware.. The recent firmwares have improved compatability for DSL lines, this would be your best starting point

  @Philbert

1.4.0 0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 201122 Rel.72659n

This is the current firmware it's on, I live in Australia so maybe that's why it's different, but there's no option to update firmware, it says I'm up to date?

Hey

That helps, the firmware is easier to identify if you use the build date.. 201122  so Nov 2020

There appears to be an updated firmware, July 2021   which you could try.  Just download it and do a manual update, link below for AU site (im uk based)

Thank you very much for your suggestion, Philbert!

  @Cazza , it is ok for you to update the latest 1.5.0 0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 210722.

Since you are not able to detect this firmware online, you might need to manually upload this firmware to the modem via web UI.

How to update the firmware on AC VDSL/ADSL Modem Router (new logo)?

Best regards.

  @Cazza

If the issue persists it could be possible the ax10 we have plugged in could also be the source of the issues, but I have checked the firmware on that router and I actually updated it recently, not long before this issue arose.

Looking into it further, I have checked the event viewer on one of the computers that is hardwired into the ax10 and there are DNS errors, which leads me to believe its the ax10 not the vr2100 as the ax10 is on a separate subnet and using its own DNS server separately from the main vr2100.

Should I try a beta firmware, or could downgrading the firmware also help?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Since 20210722 is not a beta version, it is an official firmware and there is no need to downgrade back to your previous version.

But if you mean the firmware of AX10, till now, we haven't has enough proof that Archer AX10 is guilty and we can leave it on the latest firmware.

I see you mentioned before that Archer AX10 is wired into VR2100 as an access point, So Do you set up VR2100 as DSL modem router with SSID 1 and have AX10 connected to VR2100 and provide another SSID?

ISP---<DSL cable>---VR2100(DSL modem router with Wi-Fi 1)---<cable>---Archer AX10(AP mode with Wi-Fi 2)

If you think Archer AX10 might be the problem, you could unplug it from VR2100 for a while and check whether the connection would be more stable.

And you also mentioned some logs here, you could also send us the log file if possible.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
