I live in a 3 story house and I have placed each mesh device in a straight vertical line on each of the floors.

1. Living Room (Main Deco)

2. Master Bedroom

3. Guest Room

 

What's the point of selling this as a mesh system if both the Satellite units (2 & 3) keeps on connecting back to the Main Deco (1) ?

 

 

I get no advantage from having the 3rd unit at all. 

 

The signal source for satellite 3 should be 2. Not Main deco 1. 

 

When will this get fixed? Either you guys should fix the automatic source selection option. Or you guys have to give us the option to choose. This is so stupid. I spent 140 pounds on this mess. 

 

And how is this feature only being added to certain models (M5)?

 

Stop misleading people.

Hi, The official firmware hasn't been ready yet but you can install the beta firmware here:

This feature is planned to be added on Deco S4 as well.

As for the location of the Deco, it is suggested to have a look at this link:

antenna radiation pattern

The straight vertical direction might have the weakest signal and it is suggested to have some angle.

Connecting to the main Deco sometimes is better than to the satellite Deco.

Have you noticed any performance issues if the Guest room Deco is always connecting to the main Living room Deco?

I know that. I tried literally everything before making a complaint over here. It just never works like that. 

Yes obviously. I get slower speeds in my guest room. 
Living Room 200mbps
Master Bedroom 200mbps
Guest room 60mbps

This is not right.
