Model: TL-WPA7517 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: TL-WPA7517KIT(EU)_V1_211222

After initial pairing of adapter and range extender through adjacent electrical sockets, and moving the extender then to a different electrical socket, pairing only succeeds when staying below the second floor. Pairing is impossible from any electrical socket of the second floor onwards.

When pairing succesfully, the powerline led on the extender briefly lights up, goes dark again, and then after some seconds lights up again and stays lit. On the second floor, where pairing does not work, the powerline led also briefly lights up, but then stays dark afterwards.

The strange thing however, pairing on the second floor was possible until some days ago. No changes were made to the Internet modem confguration. And no interventions were carried with the electrical wiring of the house. Without it, the product is useless to us, since it needs to get Internet access to the second floor office.

Did the extender become less performant?

Thanks for any advice!

Hello   @link182

Thank you for starting a detailed post, from your description the powerline signal is very week between the powerline units.

  • Ensure powerline kit are used in the same powerline or under the same power meter, not working corss the power meters.
  • Try a different wall outlet for the main powerline unit that connected to router (you might try a longer ethernet cable)put it to a wall socket which is closer to the second floor socket
  • Ensure powerline kit are plugged into the WALL outlets
  • Check if powerline kit could stay paired in the same room
  •

If powerline device still lost pair on the second floor but could stay pair in the same room, it is possible the powerline environment is not very suitable for powerline device, you could consider other extenders like extend connection by Ethernet or wireless.
